Fincantieri to Adapt FREMM Frigate for US Navy

Shipbuilder Fincantieri Marine Group has announced further details on its plans to adapt its FREMM frigate, already in service for the Italian Navy since 2012, to design the U.S. Navy’s new guided-missile frigate, FFG(X). Fincantieri said it will lead an industry team, including Gibbs & Cox and Trident Maritime Systems, to design and build the ships at its U.S. shipyards, including Fincantieri Marinette Marine (FMM) in Marinette, Wisc. Dive Support Vessel Delivered to Stapem Offshore

The first of two new 18-meter catamaran dive support vessels built for Paris-based Stapem Offshore has been delivered by South African shipbuilder Legacy Marine Group. The Marshal Island-flagged vessel, Stapem Beluga, will operate in the coastal waters of Angola in support of oil and gas exploration and production. The vessel, designed by Incat Crowther, has been customized to suit Stapem’s specific operational requirements. The aft exterior deck utilizes available space by combining deck lockers and racks for diving equipment storage with a covered dive prepping area.

Foss Maritime Acquires Harbor Marine Group

Foss Maritime Company will acquire Harbor Marine Group Inc., a full service Seattle-based naval architecture and marine engineering consulting firm. Along with their existing suite of services, Foss can now offer full service logistics and project management to their domestic and international customers. The new line of business will operate under the Harbor Marine Group name as a division of Foss Maritime Company. Harbor Marine Group principals David Dumont and Elizabeth Reynolds have both accepted positions at Foss. Dumont has been named director of Harbor Marine Group, and Reynolds has been named director of Foss engineering. Harbor Marine Group currently serves a broad range of commercial and public marine clients operating throughout the U.S. West Coast and Alaska.

Bradford Marine Expands Line

Bradford Marine, Inc. (Bradford Marine) announced that they have expanded their line of services with the formation of a new subsidiary, Bradford Marine Group, Inc. (Bradford Marine Group). The Bradford Marine Group will significantly add to Bradford Marine’s ability to provide a full line of quality yacht services from their shipyard in Ft. Lauderdale. Bradford Marine Group will provide consulting services to yacht owners, their Captains and crews. Technical services such as naval architecture, project management (including new construction), vessel class compliance, certification compliance, vessel security plans and yacht brokerage (through Bradford Marine Group’s division, BMG Yacht & Ship Brokers) is some of the new features provided.

Resolve Marine/PENCO: Emergency Response in Hawaii

On February 2nd, 2011, a team of emergency responders from Resolve Marine Group and Pacific Environmental Corporation (dba PENCO)/American Marine Corporation, demonstrated their marine fire fighting capabilities in Honolulu Harbor. The trained crew of locally and internationally recognized professionals conducted an equipment deployment exercise, utilizing pumps and fire fighting monitors stored at the PENCO/American Marine facilities on pier 13, and operated from the deck of the M/V American Islander.

Charrier Joins Manitowoc Marine Group

Floyd Charrier has joined the Manitowoc Marine Group as vice president of sales and marketing. Charrier will head all sales and marketing for the shipyards in the Marine Group, including commercial, government and ship repair sectors. Charrier comes from Halter Marine Inc. where he held the position of vice president sales.

DMW Delivers Marine Cranes for the US Navy

DMW Marine Group, LLC. has delivered two 40 ton meter knuckleboom cranes to the U.S. Navy. The model M400 cranes will replace two similarly sized cranes that were provided by another vendor. The Navy has decided to replace its rusty equipment with a corrosion resistant marine crane, according to DMW Marine Group. DMW Marine Group said its equipment features stainless steel pipes and fittings, a sand blasted and flame metalized structure and Ni-Cr 500 piston rods which enables their cranes to withstand marine environments.

Zurich Forms Focus Group

Zurich U.S. has reorganized its Marine Group to expand upon the group's focus on multiple marine lines and to support its efforts to work with both customers and producers on a variety of marine exposures. The new Zurich U.S. marine organization, based in New York encompasses a new leader; five practice leaders and streamlined regional leadership. Wayne Krause, the former head of Global Marine, HO Zurich, will run the Marine Group as chief underwriting officer. Based in New York, Krause succeeds Gus Gonzalez, marine group director, who is retiring. The company also elected practice leaders for its five target market segments. They are as follows: Andrew Forbis, Cargo; Gordon Lewis, Blue Water Hull; Dan Lord, liabilities; and Howard Kingston, Fine Art/Specie.

Otto Marine's shipyard has sold the multi-purpose offshore support vessel 'Otto Explorer 3' to RY Offshore Ltd. for about US$ 50-million. Upon completion of the sale, the buyer will charter the vessel to the Ottto Marine Group subsidiary, Go Marine Group Pty Ltd. The company has received a deposit of US$1 million from the buyer for the transaction with the balance to be paid upon delivery of the vessel, which is being built at the Otto Marine shipyard in Batam, Indonesia. Go Marine Group Sells 7 Offshore Support Vessels

Singapore's Otto Marine Ltd. says that its 90% owned subsidiary, Go Marine Group Pty Ltd. has entered into a Memorandum of Agreement to sell the 7 vessels concerned to RSOV Marine Pte Ltd for an aggregate sum of US$10 million. The vessels are named: GO 4 IT, GO Puriya, GO Shaula, Piparn, Yikara, Minotaur and Centaur. Otto Marine add that Mr Yaw Chee Siew, its Executive Chairman and controlling shareholder, owns a 29% interest in the issued and paid-up share capital of the buyer, with the remainder held by an unrelated third party.

Resolve Marine Offers OPA-90 Guidance

Nick Sloane Joins Resolve Marine Group

Senior Salvage Master Nick Sloane has joined the senior management team at Resolve Marine Group., aiming to help guide the global growth of the marine services company. The news comes just months after Resolve opened its operations in Gibraltar, expanding its emergency response capabilities to Europe, the Middle East and Africa. “Nick is a force in the industry and now that Resolve has a worldwide footprint, he is a natural fit,” said Joe Farrell, President and CEO of Resolve Marine Group.

Radio Holland Awarded Remote Monitoring Agreement

Radio Holland, part of the newly formed company RH Marine Group, has been awarded a Remote Monitoring Agreement from The China Navigation Company (CNCo). Under the new agreement, Radio Holland will install VDR Remote Interface on board three more CNCo vessels (Coral Chief, Highland Chief and New Guinea Chief). Orion Announces $20 Million Contract Award

Orion Marine Group, Inc. (NYSE:ORN), a marine contractor serving the infrastructure sector, announced  May 15, 2012 a contract award of approximately $20 million. Orion Marine Group was recently awarded a contract for the demolition and rehabilitation of an existing wharf structure on the Lower Mississippi River for a private customer. Onsite construction of the project is expected to commence in the second quarter and last approximately 12 months.

Orion Announces $9 Million Contract

Orion Marine Group, Inc., a heavy civil marine contractor serving the infrastructure sector, announced a contract award of approximately $9 million. Orion Marine Group was recently awarded a contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to dredge approximately two million cubic yards of material on a portion of the Houston Ship Channel. Dredging will commence in the third quarter and last approximately seven months.

Ingram Marine Group, an inland marine transportation companies, announced the following executive leadership promotions. Dale Heller, former Vice President and Chief Information Officer, has been promoted to Senior Vice President and CIO. DMW Marine Hires Reeder

DMW Marine Group hired Monty Reeder as its Inside Sales Manager and New England, Canada and mid-Atlantic direct Sales Representative. Reeder graduated from Ursinus College with a degree in Business and Economics and previously represented Iron Mountain. Mark Gregory will now be responsible for direct sales in the Southeastern US and Gulf Coast while Bo Weidner will continue to handle the West Coast of the US and Canada. Manitowoc Awarded Contract

Manitowac was awarded a U.S. Coast Guard contract valued at more than $80 million. The Manitowoc Company, Inc. the leading provider of shipbuilding and ship-repair services for the U.S. Great Lakes maritime industry, announced that the United States Coast Guard has awarded Manitowoc Marine Group an $82.4-million contract to build a new Great Lakes ice breaker. The new vessel, which is currently unnamed, will be approximately 240 feet long, 60 feet wide, and will displace 3,500 long tons. homeport of Cheboygan, Michigan. said Terry D. Growcock, Manitowoc's president and chief executive officer. "The contract also enhances our status as the leading shipbuilder on the U.S. the ice breaker at Marinette Marine under a contract that will span more than three years.

Imtech Marine Becomes RH Marine Group

The new RH Marine Group, formerly known as Imtech Marine was introduced at the Europort exhibition in Rotterdam today. Following the recent acquisition by Parcom Capital and Pon Holdings, Imtech Marine will now be known as RH Marine Group, built on the roots of founding companies Radio Holland and van Rietschoten & Houwens. The two ‘pillars’ for service and newbuild activities within Imtech Marine are also involved in the new naming structure. Global NavCom, Connectivity, On Board ICT service and maintenance brand Radio Holland will keep its name but will have a new logo.

Blue Water Ventures JV with Under Marine Group
