Swire Shipping Opens Branch Office in Japan

Swire Shipping commemorated the opening of its new Japan branch office in Tokyo on February 21,2024 with an event at The Palace Hotel in Tokyo, marking Swire Shipping’s official return to Japan with a physical presence.A highlight of the evening was the Kagami-biraki ceremony – the customary breaking open of a sake barrel – a tradition steeped in respect and appreciation. Esteemed long-serving former employees of Swire, who had served the company with dedication in the past, shared a toast of sake alongside the current Japan team onstage.

Fortis to Host Inaugural U.S. Investor Day on April 1

Fortis Inc. will host its inaugural U.S. Investor Day on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 in New York. The event will take place at The New York Palace hotel, 455 Madison Avenue at 50th Street (Spellman Room). Inchcape Shipping Celebrates 25th Anniversary of ISS Greece

Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS), the world’s leading maritime services provider, has this month celebrated the 25th anniversary of its operations in Greece by hosting its annual senior management conference in Athens, close to the company’s Greek head office in the Port of Piraeus. Over 170 ISS employees, including the entire senior management team, congregated to enjoy three days of strategic development activity, events, networking and customer engagement. The packed three day agenda featured a number of highlights including the announcement of the ISS Employee of the Year 2014, presented by ISS’ Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr John Coghlan, to Richard Reyes of ISS GMT, Manila.

Korea Pledges Full Supports for Shipyards

Korean shipbuilding and offshore plant industry to get full support

Yoon Sang-Jick, Minister of Trade, Industry, and Energy (MOTIE) of Korea, held a meeting to check pending issues faced by Korean shipbuilding and offshore plant industry at Seoul Palace Hotel recently. The meeting was intended to examine current status of overseas and home industry and seek response proposals. Some 20 presidents from allied organizations attended, such as MOTIE, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF), the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MEL), shipbuilding and offshore plant industry…

Transport Engineering Course at OMAE 2014

HMC will host ASME Courses on Transport Engineering and Front End Engineering Design from June 7-8, 2014 at The Palace Hotel in San Francisco. The OMAE is the flagship conference of the Ocean Offshore and Arctic Engineering Division of ASME. Every year it brings together engineers, researchers, academics, industry leaders and government leaders. In 2014, San Francisco will be the host city. Rickmers Tianjin Named in Mumbai

Rickmers Tianjin has now joined her sistership Rickmers Yokohama, seen here in the English Channel, on the Europe India Service

As part of its upgrading program for its Europe India service, Rickmers-Linie, has added the 17,000dwt newbuilding Rickmers Tianjin to the schedule. The base ports served are Hamburg, Antwerp, Genoa, Mumbai and Chennai but the service is capable of serving a wide variety of additional ports on inducement. Rickmers Tianjin joins her sistership Rickmers Yokohama and the charter ships Linde, Martin and Baltic Winter on the Indian service. On her maiden voyage from Europe, Rickmers Tianjin was named in the Port of Mumbai on 9 January.
