Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group Visits South Korea

Task Force 70 Public Affairs (NNS) - The Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group arrived in Busan for a port visit, Oct. 21. The aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) with embarked staff of Commander, Task Force (CTF) 70, Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15 staff and Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 5, and the guided-missile destroyers USS Stethem (DDG 63) and USS Chafee (DDG 90) pulled into Busan after participating in Maritime Counter Special Operations Force Exercise (MCSOFEX) 2017. The focus of the bilateral training exercise was to increase the readiness of U.S. and Republic of Korea (ROK) forces and maintain stability on the Korean Peninsula. Shuttle tankers differ from “standard” crude oil tankers.

USS Howard Builds Partnerships in SEACAT Exercise

The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Howard (DDG 83) trained with the navies of , , , and the Republic of the Aug. 17-20 during the Southeast Asia Cooperation Against Terrorism (SEACAT) exercise. The seventh-annual exercise focused on improving the interoperability between regional navies and their ability to collectively intercept vessels using the seas to transport criminals, contraband or terrorists. During the first day of the exercise, while Howard acted as an opposing force vessel, a commando team from the Brunei Special Forces boarded her.

USS Russell Returns to Homeport

The guided-missile destroyer USS Russell (DDG 59) returned home to Naval Station Pearl Harbor on April 7 after a three-month deployment with Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group (CSG). Cmdr. Brad Cooper, commanding officer of Russell, said he is very proud of the command’s flexibility and motivation to support its tasking. “We deployed in early February with the Ronald Reagan Strike Group as part of a surge deployment [of] forces moving to the Central Command region. Ronald Reagan Strike Group Makes Port Visit to Pearl Harbor

The Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group (RRCSG), pulled into Naval Station Pearl Harbor on April 9 for a scheduled port visit on the return leg of its 2007 deployment in support of operations in the Western Pacific. “The crew is excited to return to Hawaii because it means we are one step closer to home,” said Capt. Terry B. Kraft, Ronald Reagan’s commanding officer. Ronald Reagan Strike Group Operates with JMSDF Ships

Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) guided missile destroyer JS Myoko (DDG 175) pulls alongside USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) for a refueling at sea (RAS). Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group (RRCSG) took part in a passing exercise (PASSEX) with the JMSDF in the Philippine Sea March 16-18. RRCSG and embarked Carrier Air Wing Fourteen (CVW) 14 are underway in support of operations in the western Pacific. Strike Group Operates with JMSDF Ships

USS RONALD REAGAN, At Sea (NNS) -- The Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group (RRCSG) took part in a passing exercise (PASSEX) with the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) in the Philippine Sea March 16-18. JMSDF ships participating in the PASSEX were the JS Myoko (DDG 175), JS Hamagiri (DD 155), JS Yuugiri (DD 153) and JS Haruna (DDH 141). In addition to USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), U.S. Navy ships participating in the exercise were USS Lake Champlain (CG 57), USS Russell (DDG 59) and USS Paul Hamilton (DDG 60). Additionally, Commander, Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 7; Commander, Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 7; and Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 14 participated in the exercise. The goal of the exercise was for the RRCSG to work with their counterparts from the JMSDF in areas of mutual interest.

Ronald Reagan Awarded First Battle "E"

U.S. USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) earned the 2006 Commander Naval Air Force Carrier Battle Efficiency “E” award for the West Coast, the first Battle "E” ever for the Navy’s newest aircraft carrier. The announcement was made Feb. 26 as the crew enjoyed a five-day port visit to Sasebo, Japan. The highly sought-after Battle “E” is awarded annually to ships that display the maximum condition of readiness in their specific category, and for their capability to perform their wartime responsibilities.

Ronald Reagan Strike Group Enters 7th Fleet

The USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) Carrier Strike Group (RRSG) entered the U.S. 7th Fleet’s area of responsibility (AOR) Feb. 9, as part of a surge deployment to promote peace, cooperation and stability in the region. Led by Rear Adm. Charles W. Martoglio, the Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group will be filling the role of USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63), the Navy’s only permanently forward deployed aircraft carrier, which is undergoing scheduled maintenance in Yokuska, Japan. “Our friends and allies in the region can be assured of continued, robust interaction with our Navy in the form of mutual training opportunities, exchanges, and port visits,” said Martoglio, commander, Carrier Strike Group Seven (CCSG 7).

Reagan Carrier Strike Group Makes Port Visit to Singapore

The USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) Carrier Strike Group arrived in Singapore Feb. 7 for a scheduled port visit. USS Lake Champlain (CG 57 ) and USNS Rainer (T-AOE 7 ) will be joining them in port. Small Boats Provide Links to Local Maritime Community
