Brittany Ferries and Titan LNG have signed a long-term agreement for the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquified bio methane (LBM) to two new LNG-fueled hybrid Ro-Pax vessels that Brittany Ferries will operate between England and France from 2025.The ferries will serve established routes connecting Portsmouth with Saint-Malo, and Portsmouth with Ouistreham. A new liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering vessel was christened in the Port of Antwerp on March 23.The new vessel, named FlexFueler 002, was built by Dutch shipbuilder Kooiman Marine for owners gas infrastructure group Fluxys and LNG supplier Titan LNG, and it will ensure that ships can refuel with LNG anywhere in the port. The Netherlands-based marine fuel supplier Titan LNG launched a tender for a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering barge to service the Zeebrugge and English Channel regions. The first delivery is expected to be fulfilled in 2023.The 4,200 cubic meter capacity vessel, to be named Krios, was designed by HB Hunte Engineering. It will operate with multiple tanks to segregate streams of LNG and bio-LNG, the sustainable carbon neutral fuel produced from biological waste streams.

The world's most powerful semi-submersible crane vessel received the largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering ever completed.On Thursday, Titan LNG performed the bunkering of Heerema's Sleipnir, using the Coral Fraseri, Anthony Veder's LNG carrier in the Port of Rotterdam. The total quantity of LNG delivered was almost 3,300 metric tons, making this the largest LNG bunkering to have ever taken place. Sleipnir arrived at the Port of Rotterdam on Sunday, March 22, following a global campaign, and the LNG bunkering delivery took less then 24 hours to complete.

Dutch LNG supplier Titan LNG's bunker barge FlexFueler001 has supplied LNG to Ramelia, oil and chemicals tanker owned by Sweden's Alvtank, while the ship was unloading cargo at the Oiltanking Terminal in Amsterdam.It is the first time a simultaneous operation (SIMOPS) has taken place with LNG bunkering in the Port of Amsterdam, allowing the Ramelia to unload cargo whilst receiving LNG bunkers."This important step, in which Oiltanking Amsterdam and Furetank Chartering joined, enables the receiving vessel to have a quicker turnaround in the port as it  does not have to shift to a designated LNG bunkering location, such as the Titan LNG facility…

The first ship-to-ship liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering in the port of Ghent took place in a joint effort between the North Sea Port and Titan LNG, the LNG solutions provider for the shipping and marine industries.Titan LNG delivered around 150 tons of LNG to The Fure Valo, an LNG powered tanker, built in 2018 and owned by the Swedish company Furetank. Last year Titan LNG delivered LNG by truck-to-ship, as the first in the North Sea Port of Ghent.Eric de Jong, Manager Logistics Titan LNG said: “This LNG bunkering marks the expansion of LNG delivery in the ports of Europe. Dutch ferry firm Rederij Doeksen has signed a liquefied natural gas  (LNG) bunker supply agreement with Titan LNG, which supplies and transports LNG to marine markets.Both the companies have signed a long-term agreement for the supply of LNG as a shipping fuel to the newbuild ferries, Willem de Vlamingh and Willem Barentsz.The vessels will be bunkered by trucks on a weekly basis. Both ferries will operate on the ferry route to the Dutch islands of Vlieland and Terschelling.As both vessels will only use LNG as fuel, the ferry service can be provided in a much more environmentally friendly way, reducing harmful emissions in the UNESCO heritage area the Waddenzee.“After an intensive period of preparations to get the two new ferries into service…

The throughput of LNG - liquefied natural gas - as bunker fuel in the Rotterdam bunker port increased considerably from 1,500 to 9,500 tonnes in 2018.Meanwhile, the sale of bunker oil - fuel for shipping - in the bunker port decreased from 9.9 million m3 to 9.5 million m3. The decrease can almost entirely be ascribed to the decline in sales of heavy fuel oil from 8.3 million m3 to 7.9 million m3.The Port of Rotterdam Authority suspects that the decline in bunker volumes in Europe’s largest bunker port is a consequence of the increased scale and use of modern vessels in container shipping. Supplies to container ships account for approximately 70 per cent of the total Rotterdam bunker market.These days, LNG bunkering in Rotterdam is business as usual.

Belgium-based natural gas transmission system operator Fluxys and Netherlands-based Titan LNG have joined forces to build the FlexFueler 002, a bunkering pontoon to make liquefied natural gas (LNG) more widely available as shipping fuel in the Antwerp port and region.Shipyard Kooiman, Zwijndrecht, The Netherlands, was contracted to build the FlexFueler 002. The pontoon, which is scheduled to be commissioned by mid-2020, will measure 76.4 x 11.45 m and is equipped with four vacuum insulated type C cargo tanks of 370 cu. m. each, to carry liquid LNG. The pontoon is not self propelled but for assistance in maneuvering a bow thruster is installed.

German utility Uniper SE signed a Heads of Agreement (HOA) with ExxonMobil Gas Marketing Europe Limited in respect of a long-term booking of a substantial share of regasification capacity in Uniper’s floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) project Wilhelmshaven for receiving liquefied natural gas (LNG).According to a press release, the parties will continue their discussions in the coming months with the goal to enter into binding agreements soon.Keith Martin, Chief Commercial Officer of Uniper SE, says: “The Heads of Agreement is an important step towards the realization of the Wilhelmshaven FSRU project. The FSRU will provide LNG companies from the US, but also other countries from around the world with the opportunity to deliver LNG into the German and European market.

Shipping company Nor Lines has allocated its two LNG-powered multipurpose vessels to a biweekly liner service from the SCA terminal in Rotterdam to the Norwegian coast. Titan LNG, the service supplier of liquefied natural gas, will be supplying the chilled fuel to two Nor Lines' vessels - The MV Kvitnos and the MV Kvitbjørn. The ships are bunkering, like the Wes Amelie, with Titan LNG at the City Terminal in the Prins Willem Alexander harbour (port number 2790). The LNG is delivered to the vessels by trucks. The Port of Rotterdam and Titan LNG have set up the site temporarily to bunker LNG to sea-going vessels until there are sufficient LNG bunker barges available. Nor lines is a fully owned subsidiary of the shipping company Samskip.

In a joint effort between the Port of Moerdijk, the shipyard Neptune Marine, Cryonorm Systems and Titan LNG the Werkendam was supplied successfully for the first time with LNG. The Werkendam, the new LNG powered vessel of Van Oord, was safely supplied on the 8th of May in the Port of Moerdijk. The Werkendam is an exceptional part of the Van Oord fleet. It is the first LNG-powered inland waterway crane vessel and is the start of a new generation of dredging vessels for Van Oord. The Werkendam is fully powered by LNG, with gas oil as a back-up. The installed tank capacity on the aft deck, can store enough LNG on board to sail and operate for fourteen days without having to refuel. In comparison with diesel, LNG emits 80% less particulate matter and 70% less nitrogen oxide.

Port of Amsterdam and Titan LNG have signed a long-term contract for the “home” location of Titan’s bunkering pontoon: the FlexFueler001. This pontoon will be the first of its kind in Europe providing easy, affordable and safe LNG bunkering services of this cleaner marine fuel. The agreement underpins the ports’ ambition to facilitate the development of the LNG bunkering market in Amsterdam. Titan LNG says that the stage has been set for a push in the adoption of LNG as a marine fuel beyond the tipping point. The order book for LNG-powered ships grew substantially, the LNG bunkering infrastructure is maturing and the pricing of LNG has become structurally competitive versus MGO. In 2017 around 11% of all new build contracts were LNG powered ships, a trend that we expect to continue during 2018.
