SpeedCast Delivers Custom Solution to Allseas

Satellite telecommunications service provider SpeedCast International Limited has been awarded a satellite service contract by Allseas Group S.A., an offshore pipeline installation and subsea construction company. The contract covers Allseas’ flagship vessel, the Pieter Schelte, one the world’s largest ships, which took to the seas for the first time for sea trials in September. The satellite service provides broadband connectivity for mission-critical communications between the vessel and the land-based operations.

New Allseas Positioning Contract for Veripos

Allseas, a  leader in offshore pipeline installation and subsea construction, has awarded Veripos a further three-year contract for continuing provision of specialist  GNSS positioning services for its entire fleet of vessels headed by the world's largest pipelaying vessel, the 300m Solitaire. Other vessels concerned include companion DP pipelayers Audacia and Lorelay in addition to the DP trenching support and subsea installation vessel, Calamity Jane, the anchored pipelay barge, Tog Mor, and the ROSVs Highland Fortress, Highland Navigator and Highland Rover. Allseas expect to add to its fleet during the course of the contract what will be the world’s largest construction support vessel…

Thome Offshore Bolsters Top Management

Thome Offshore Management (TOM) and Thome Oil & Gas (TOG), the offshore services arm of Singapore-based Thome Ship Management, has appointed John A. Sydness, as Managing Director for Thome Offshore and Thome Oil & Gas. His appointment is effective immediately. Buoyed by the rising offshore markets, Thome’s Offshore and Energy Division is expanding its management capability to better support its activities and ensure its service standards are maintained and improved. John was previously Managing Director of TOG and prior to that he worked for major international companies in the offshore services and energy industries. He takes over from Claes Eek Thorstensen, who is moving into a group role in TSMI – the holding company of the Thome Group of companies.
