Sr Management Restructuring at Rolls Royce

Rolls-Royce is today announcing a new senior management structure as the first step in the wide-ranging restructuring announced on 12 November 2015. The move will simplify the organisation, drive operational excellence and reduce cost; ensuring Rolls-Royce is better placed to deliver long-term profitable growth. The current divisional structure of Aerospace and Land & Sea will end, removing a layer of senior management. From 1 January 2016, Rolls-Royce will operate as five market facing businesses, with the Presidents of Civil Aerospace, Defence Aerospace, Marine, Nuclear and Power Systems reporting directly to the Chief Executive. Our Civil Aerospace business will comprise of our merged Civil Large Engines (CLE) and our Civil Small and Medium Engines (CSME) businesses.

Students Protect Inlets from Oil Contamination

A new Texas Tidal Inlet Protection Strategies (TIPS) program, being developed by researchers at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, will soon be in place to protect our state’s sensitive bays and estuaries from the potential harm of offshore oil spills. The bays and estuaries of the Texas coast serve as nurseries for several species of marine organisms including sport fish. These estuaries are connected to the Gulf of Mexico through various inlets. An oil spill in any of these sensitive habitats has the potential to kill fish and even shut down popular tourist areas.

Rolls-Royce Confirm 2013 Financial Forecasts

Rolls-Royce state that current trading is in line with expectations, and that their guidance for the full year is confirmed. Since the preliminary 2012 results in February, Rolls-Royce say they have won a US$1.6bn order from International Airlines Group (IAG) for Trent XWB engines, with long-term TotalCare® service support, to power 18 Airbus A350-1000 aircraft; they have also  signed multiple contracts to provide and service military transport engines for the US Air Force and US Marine Corps; in addition  construction has started on the state-of-the-art Core Manufacturing Facility in Derby that will produce reactor cores for the UK's current and future Submarines Programme.

Rolls-Royce plc has received the Green Ship Technology Award for its Environship concept – a revolutionary design and system solution for cargo ships that reduces CO2 emissions by up to 40 per cent compared to similar diesel powered vessels. The Environship, which can be adapted for different ship types, incorporates a range of Rolls-Royce technologies to deliver efficiency savings for ship owners. Rolls-Royce Installs 36MW Gas Turbine

The Rolls-Royce MT30 gas turbine enclosure, shrink wrapped for protection, arrives alongside HMS Queen Elizabeth, prior to installation at Babcock’s Rosyth yard in Scotland.

Rolls-Royce installed the first MT30 gas turbine into the Royal Navy’s new aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth, at Babcock’s Rosyth shipyard in Scotland. The MT30, at 36 MW (around 50,000 hp), is reported by the company to be the world’s most powerful marine gas turbine. Two MT30s will be installed in each ship and will provide two thirds of the 109 MW needed to power the 65,000 ton ships. The MT30s are installed as part of a Gas Turbine Alternator (GTA) which also includes an alternator and gas turbine enclosure, weighing a total of 120 tonnes.

New President, Naval Business, at Rolls-Royce

Rolls-Royce appoints Don Roussinos as President Naval - Marine, succeeding Andy Marsh. Don, who holds a Bachelors of Science in Electronic Engineering from Wentworth Institute of Technology and a Master of Management from Cambridge College, joins Rolls-Royce from L-3 Communications where he most recently held the position of President – L-3 Maritime Systems. He has held a number of senior roles at L-3 during his career and has also worked at Lau Technologies, General Electric and Textron. He will be based at the Rolls-Royce North America headquarters in Reston, Virginia and will report to both Tony Wood, President – Marine, and Jim Guyette, President & CEO Rolls-Royce North America Inc.

Rolls-Royce Secures £100 Million Contract

Rolls-Royce, a global power systems company, has announced an order worth more than £100 million to supply integrated power and propulsion systems for seven offshore drilling vessels in Brazil. The ships will be built at the Atlântico Sul shipyard for Brazilian oil company Petrobras. Rolls-Royce will equip each of the seven vessels, which will satisfy local content requirements, with six large thrusters and six Bergen diesel generator sets. Together, the systems will be used to propel the vessels to and from drill sites and to accurately maintain their positioning during drilling operations. Rolls-Royce wins a prestigious 'Ship of the Year' industry award for its new wave-piercing ship design for PSV 'Far Solitaire'. The Far Solitaire, a UT 754 WP platform supply vessel for the offshore oil and gas industry, has been named Skipsrevyen 'Ship of the Year' at the SMM marine industry trade show in Hamburg, Germany.
