Fugro to Convert Two PSVs to Geotechnical Vessels

Dutch offshore survey firm Fugro will convert the Fugro Resilience and the Topaz Endurance, two ULSTEIN PX121 platform supply vessels (PSVs), to geotechnical vessels, targeting their deployment in the global offshore renewable energy market.Fugro acquired the two platform supply vessels, the Topaz Endurance and the Topaz Energy (renamed Fugro Resilience), in February 2023.Ulstein Design & Solutions AS is responsible for the redesign of the two vessels, and on September 22, 2023, Fugro awarded Ulstein Verft a contract to convert the Fugro Resilience. Both vessels were built in 2015.

V.Group Names Kofod-Olsen as CEO

Ship management and marine support services giant V.Group said on Wednesday it has appointed René Kofod-Olsen as the company’s chief executive officer, taking over from Graham Westgarth who will become chairman. Kofod-Olsen will join V. Group on November 1.Kofod-Olsen brings to the role almost three decades of global shipping industry experience. In 2012 he was appointed CEO of Topaz Energy & Marine, a position he held until the company’s successful divestment in 2019. Earlier in his career he worked for the A.P.

Marine solutions and logistics company P&O Maritime Logistics (POML) said it has appointed Martin Helweg as its new Chief Executive Officer. He will report to Mike Bhaskaran, DP World’s Chief Operating Officer for Logistics and Technology.For the past three years, Helweg has been responsible for P&O Maritime Logistics’ global operations. DP World to Delist from Nasdaq Dubai

Topaz Extended Drydocking Scheme with ABS

Topaz Revenue Climbs

Revenue of Topaz Energy and Marine of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the six-month period of 2019 was $235 million, an increase of 56% compared to H1 2018.Dubai-based offshore vessel operator’s first-half net income also surged to $42 million from a $4m loss recorded at the end of first six months of 2018.Earnings before interest taxes, depreciation and amortization rose by 83 percent to $141m in the first half.The global ports operator DP World acquired Topaz from Oman's Renaissance Services and Standard Chartered's private equity arm for an enterprise value of $1.08 billion (Dh3.96bn) in July.“DP World recognizes the success we have achieved and wants us to continue to deliver that going forward.

DP World to Issue $700 million in Bonds, Sukuk

Port operator DP World plans to raise at least $700 million through conventional and Islamic bond issues on Thursday, documents issued by banks involved in the deal showed.Majority owned by the Dubai government, DP World plans to issue benchmark sukuk with a 10-year maturity. DP World Set to Acquire Topaz Energy

The world’s largest port operator DP World is in advanced discussions to acquire Topaz Energy & Marine, marking the Dubai-based company's first potential foray into the oil and gas industry.Britain’s Sky News, citing sources, earlier reported that a $1.3 billion deal for DP World to take over Topaz could be announced as early as Monday. Topaz Installs FUELTRAX

Topaz  Energy and Marine is partnering with FUELTRAX on advanced fuel tracking and reporting.  Topaz installed FUELTRAX EFMS across 21  of its vessels operating between Nigeria and Azerbaijan for data storage and surveillance. FUELTRAX is designed to deliver an electronic record of activities using automated operational and fuel data collection, coupling it with precise in-transit efficiency recommendations for vessels located anywhere in the world.In  line  with  its  digital  transformation,  Topaz  has  also  adopted FUELTRAX Vision, a new onboard  surveillance  system which provides  a remote  view  of  onboard  surveillance footage, stored in a secure database and correlated with onboard fuel activities.

BHGE Deploys VitalyX for Topaz

Wärtsilä Completes Sea Trials for SceneScan System

The technology group Wärtsilä has successfully completed sea trials of its SceneScan system, the world’s first ‘targetless’ dynamic positioning (DP) laser sensor. Topaz Bags Wind Charter

Dubai-based Marine logistics company Topaz Energy and Marine (Topaz) has signed an agreement with a north European contractor for the charter of Topaz's newbuild for offshore wind farms in the North Sea.The contractor will charter Topaz’s newbuild subsea vessel, Topaz Tangaroa, for work on renewable energy projects, primarily in support of offshore wind farms in the southern North Sea. Reach Charters Topaz Tiamat

Norwegian based Reach Subsea said it has entered an agreement with Dubai headquartered Topaz Energy and Marine to charter newbuild light subsea construction vessel Topaz Tiamat for 2.5 years, plus three one-year options.The Norwegian-built vessel will be deployed under a cooperation agreement between Reach and Sweden's MMT. Vard Order Intake Zooms

With 13 new contracts secured in Q4 2017, VARD Holdings Limited's order intake of NOK 3.79 billion in the quarter increased the full year order intake ended December 31, 2017 to NOK 8.28 billion. The new contracts include a luxury polar expedition cruise vessel for a return customer, PONANT. The vessel is the first electric hybrid cruise icebreaker with dual fuel propulsion, featuring high-capacity batteries and LNG storage on board. The vessel is specially designed to take passengers to polar destinations. Having strengthened its position in the fisheries and aquaculture market during the year, VARD was also awarded contracts for seven trawlers, two fish farming operation platforms, and three service/freight-and-service vessels.

Offshore Innovation: A Real ‘Riverboat’

Central Asia is a booming oil region not far from the Persian Gulf. Energy companies ply the big lake to rack up staggering barrel counts at elephantine oilfields with names like Tengiz (Kazakhstan) or Kashagan (Azerbaijan). Painstaking, oil-fueled nation-building is underway across an oil province, where very shallow water hinders plant and equipment moves by platform supply vessels. Until now — new module-carrying vessels, or MCVs will float high-capital cargoes through Russia’s river system and across the Caspian shallows to Chevron’s Tengiz Extension project.

Norsafe, VARD Ink lifeboats Supply Deal

Norsafe has signed a new contract with VARD Group, and will supply lifeboats complete with davit systems to a series of fifteen new vessels. Topaz Energy and Marine has appointed shipbuilder VARD Group to construct fifteen Module Carrying Vessels (MCVs), each measuring 123m long by 16.5m wide. The MCVs will be built at three of VARD’s sites in Vietnam and Romania. Norsafe will deliver two JYN 57 conventional lifeboats with LHD-60 davit systems to each vessel. The unique design of Norsafe’s LHD-60 davits offers stability, and this is also achieved through a low to the ground installation, which is ideal for placement on the narrow vessels.

Two VARD Module Carrier for Topaz Energy and Marine

Vard Holdings Limited has secured a contract for the design and construction of two additional Module Carrier Vessels for Topaz Energy and Marine (“Topaz”). The vessels, of VARD 9 21 design and measuring 123 by 16.5 meters, are sister ships of a series of 15 identical Module Carrier Vessels previously contracted by Topaz for delivery from VARD’s shipyards in Tulcea and Braila in Romania, and Vung Tau in Vietnam. They will be operated by Topaz through a consortium led by Blue Water Shipping. One of the additional vessels will be built at Vard Braila and one at Vard Vung Tau. Delivery of both vessels is scheduled in 2Q 2018. The aggregate contract price is close to USD 40 million.

Topaz Secures Kazakhstan Contracts

Topaz Energy and Marine said it has secured contracts in connection with the development of the Tengiz oilfield in Kazakhstan during 2016. The two contract wins announced in the second and third quarter together represent revenue of more than $500 million. The two contracts bring Topaz’s backlog to approximately $1.6 billion. Under the terms of the main contract awarded by Tengizchevroil (TCO) to a consortium comprising Topaz and Blue Water Shipping A/S, Topaz will commission the construction of 15 Module Carrying Vessels (MCVs). The vessels will be owned and operated by Topaz and will commence work in Q2 2018 for a minimum contract period of three years.

Topaz Secures Tengiz Oilfield Contracts

Offshore support vessel company Topaz Energy and Marine has been appointed the technical managers of three vessels by a consortium comprising Blue Water Shipping A/S and Kazmortransflot (KMTF), in connection with the TCO developed Tengiz oil field in Kazakhstan. Under the terms of the agreement, Topaz will act as the technical managers for three newly designed Module Carrying Vessels (MCVs). The vessels will commence work in Q2 2018 for a minimum contract period of a little over two years. The vessels will be transporting oil and gas modules to the Tengiz oil field from transshipment bases in Kazakhstan. The Tengiz oilfield is operated by Tengizchevroil LLP; a Kazakh partnership that explores, develops, produces and markets crude oil, LPG, dry gas and sulfur.

Vard Extends SCHOTTEL Propulsion Order

Having already secured the contract in early summer to fit 15 Vard design 9 21 module carriers, propulsion specialist SCHOTTEL has now also received a follow-up order to fit three further Vard design 9 28 vessels with 12 main and auxiliary units. The Norwegian Vard Group is building the first-mentioned 15 vessels for Topaz Energy and Marine, UAE, and the later three for KMTF, the National Maritime Republic of Kazakhstan. A total of 36 special variant SRP 340 Rudderpropellers (formerly SRP 1012) were ordered as the main propulsion units for all 18 carriers.
