First Subsea Achieves API 17L1 Certification for Bend Stiffener Connectors

Connector technology developer First Subsea has received APL 17LI certification for its bend stiffener connectors from the American Petroleum Institute, the company announced today. The bend stiffener connectors are used for flexible riser and umbilicals and offshore wind cable connections and are now certified as Load Transfer Devices under the API's specification for flexible pipe ancillary equipment. First Subsea’s bend stiffener connectors use ball and taper technology to provide a powerful grip for connections to I/J tubes, and for offshore wind.

Reflex Marine’s brand new personnel transfer device, the FROG-XT4, was debuted at a recent launch event in Stavanger, Norway. The new four-person device was unveiled at Reflex Marine’s regional partner EnerMech’s fifth birthday party. The development of the FROG-XT range has been a direct response to customer demands and the product has been developed with over 20 years of experience, over 800 transfer devices operating globally, and with an estimated 1 million safe transfers performed using our capsules every year.

Reflex Marine Reports 52% Growth

Reflex Marine reported 52% growth in the last year through expanding global markets. Reflex said it has reached £5.8 million turnover, almost double its forecasted growth of 27% - with a profit before tax of around £1 million. Reflex Marine will donate 7.5% of its net profits (a record c.£56,000) to charitable causes via its not-for-profit Reflex Foundation. Reflex Marine supplies crew transfer devices and associated services. Its main products are the FROG and TORO – capsules that hold between three and nine crew-members to transfer them safely between a platform and vessel using a crane.
