Eastern Hosts Keel Authentication for New Bridgeport-Port Jefferson Ferry

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. (ESG) on March 9 hosted a keel authentication ceremony at its Allanton Shipyard in Panama City, Fla. for a new 302-foot auto and passenger ferry for the Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Steamboat Company.Steel cutting for ESG Hull 228 commenced in January 2023 and a delivery is scheduled for 2024. Eastern Cuts Steel for Bridgeport-Port Jefferson Ferry

Florida shipbuilder Eastern Shipbuilding Group has cut first steel for a new auto and passenger ferry for the Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Steamboat Company.The new vessel, designed by Braintree, Mass.-based Gilbert Associates, is being constructed at Eastern's Allanton, Fla. shipyard and is scheduled for delivery in 2024.The 302-foot Subchapter H auto and passenger ferry will operate between Bridgeport, Conn. and Port Jefferson, N.Y. Sothys Oil Tanker Bound for Vietnam After Release by Iran

The Sothys oil tanker is heading back to Vietnam, with its crew all in good health, after the vessel was released by Iran, an official of Opec Petrol Transportation Co., the owner of the tanker, said on Wednesday."It will take weeks or months for the tanker to arrive," the official told Reuters, declining to be named because she was not authorised to speak to media.The Iranian Revolutionary Guards confirmed the ship's release earlier on Wednesday, according to state media.(Editing by Martin Petty)

COSCO VLCC Wins Temporary Sanction Relief

A supertanker owned by COSCO Shipping Tankers (Dalian) has received a temporary waiver from U.S. sanctions that has allowed the ship to discharge crude oil cargoes, a source with direct knowledge of the matter said on Wednesday.The Very large crude carrier (VLCC) Coswisdom Lake, which discharged some crude in Singapore last week, offloaded its remaining oil at Brunei on Wednesday, shipping data on Refinitiv Eikon showed.The sanctions will resume after the cargoes are discharged, the source said.Sanction waivers were also being sought for a very large crude carrier carrying U.S.

CNOOC Seeks Replacements for Sanctioned COSCO LNG Tankers

Shipbuilding: ST Engineering Wins $311m in Contracts

ST Engineering reports that its marine sector won $311m worth of shipbuilding/repair contracts in the third quarter alone, including options for its shipbuilding business, as well as the ship and rig repair segments for progressive deliveries at its yards in Singapore and the US. In the US, the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) awarded its US shipyard a contract, including options worth $244m for the detailed design and construction (DD&C) of two firm and up to four optional Auxiliary Personnel Lighter Small APL Class Berthing Barges. The anticipated delivery periods of the two firm vessels are in the second and third quarter of 2020, respectively.

Longtime employee Patrick Conlin begins his tenure in 1968 as a dispatcher at Bouchard Transportation Co., eventually moving up to the company’s head of operations until his retirement in 2010. Conlin also had the privilege of working with Morton S. (“Buster”) Bouchard Sr., and Morton S.
