Austal to Build Two More Evolved Cape-class Patrol Boats for Australian Navy

The Australian Department of Defense will order an additional two Evolved Cape-class Patrol Boats (ECCPB’s) for the Royal Australian Navy from shipbuilder Austal for $124 million. The two new vessels are in addition to the six Evolved Cape-class Patrol Boats that are currently being delivered by Austal Australia for the Royal Australian Navy.The announcement was made during a visit by Australian Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, to Austal's Henderson Western Australia shipyard.

Austal Delivers Two Patrol Boats to Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard

Austal has delivered two 58-meter Cape-class Patrol Boats to the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (TTCG). BAE Systems Builds RIBs for Trinidad and Tobago Patrol Ships

BAE Systems has been awarded a contract worth almost £2 million ($2.5 million) to provide six Pacific 24 (P24) rigid inflatable boats (RIBs) to Austal, based in Australia. The RIBs, built and customized in BAE Systems’ Boats factory in Portsmouth, U.K. are being supplied to Austal to equip two Cape-class Patrol Boats under construction for the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard.The P24 is a small and agile boat that can be deployed for a variety of tasks from counter-piracy and counter-narcotics missions, to force protection, rescue and logistics operations.

Austal Wins Contract to Build Six Australian Navy Patrol Boats

Shipbuilder Austal Australia has been awarded a A$324 million (US$209.8 million) contract to design and construct six evolved Cape-class Patrol Boats (CCPBs) for the Royal Australian Navy.It is the largest contract for an Australian vessel construction program ever awarded to Austal in the company’s 30-year history.The six new vessels, to be constructed at Austal’s Henderson shipyard in Western Australia, will add to the Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN) existing fleet of two CCPB’s delivered in 2017 and further extends Austal’s Cape-class Patrol Boat program to a total of 18 vessels.

UNHCR: 21 Venezuelans Missing after Caribbean Capsizing

At least 21 Venezuelans were missing after their boat sank on the way to the Caribbean island nation of Trinidad and Tobago, the U.N. refugee agency said on Friday, citing information from that country's coast guard.The boat, the “Jhonnaly Jose”, was carrying at least 25 people from the Venezuelan coastal town of Guiria when it capsized in the early hours of Wednesday, UNHCR spokesman Babar Baloch told a regular U.N. briefing in Geneva."This tragic incident highlights the extreme risks of sea journeys and other irregular cross-border movements undertaken by refugees and migrants.

AlphaBridge Installed on Patrol Boat TTS Speyside

Alphatron Marine announced it has delivered its first 46-inch display AlphaBridge for the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard's patrol vessel TTS Speyside. While keeping a 360 viewing field, the AlphaBridge includes an array of functions, all displayed on three displays presented in a fully integrated package. Operating in Trinidad and Tobago, the patrol vessel features a tactical navigation and observation system. All systems work together to allow target motion analysis, intelligence and target alarms, evidently for a quick response to emergency situations.

Malta Welcomes New Patrol Boat Fleet

Austal has completed its first European defense contract following the commissioning of four 69.5-ft inshore patrol craft for the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM). The aluminum vessels have a maximum speed of more than 26 knots and will assist the AFM with surveillance and border protection throughout Malta’s coastal waters. “The modern and cutting-edge technology coupled with the best accommodation facilities will also provide a better working environment for the crew,” Prime Minister Gonzi said.

High Speed Caribbean Patrol Boats

Austal has delivered six high-speed aluminum patrol craft to Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (TTCG). Capable of speeds greater than 40 knots and armed with general purpose machine guns and a 20mm cannon, the 98.4 ft vessels, designed and built by Australian shipbuilder Austal, will expand the TTCG’s surveillance and enforcement capability in the region. The on‐schedule, on‐budget delivery of the fleet was achieved less than two years from the initial order, with the final vessels arriving in Trinidad and Tobago via heavy lift ship on January 18.

Caribbean Patrol Boats Impress During Trials

The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (TTCG) has described the speed and manoeuvrability of its Austal-built 98.4 ft patrol boats as impressive following recent sea trials in Western Australia. Ordered in 2008, half of the six-vessel fleet has already commenced a 33-day delivery voyage to Trinidad and Tobago, with the remaining three on schedule for completion at the end of the year. In its third significant commercial order for the year, Austal will design and construct four 134.5 ft high speed passenger catamaran ferries for the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Austal Trains TTCG Personnel

More than 90 personnel from the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (TTCG) have completed a comprehensive Austal vessel training program in preparation for the delivery of six vessel Fast Patrol Craft fleet in early 2010. The crew training program - held at Austal’s training facilities in Western Australia - familiarized TTCG personnel with the specific features and capabilities of the 30 m Fast Patrol Craft, equipping them with the skills necessary to operate the vessels and perform basic maintenance.
