A new crew transfer vessel (CTV) for the Ishikari Bay New Port offshore wind farm in Hokkaido Prefecture arrived in Japan from Singapore on April 19, Japan's NYK has informed. The vessel is named “Rera As.”After completing its sea trials, the vessel was delivered in Singapore and transported to Honmoku Pier in Yokohama port by Kifune, a heavy-lift carrier operated by NYK Bulk & Projects Carriers Ltd. After being discharged, the crew transfer vessel was towed to the Oppama factory of Keihin Dock Co. Ltd.

China's WuHu Shipyard has cut the first steel for an Orca series heavy lift vessel being built for an alliance between SAL Heavy Lift GmbH and Jumbo Shipping.Back in September 2022, SAL and Jumbo said they had signed building contracts for four firms plus two optional new-generation heavy lift ships with Wuhu Shipyard."After a long and extensive planning phase, our Orca newbuilding series has finally kicked off! Wind turbine maker Siemens Gamesa said Monday it planned to build a major offshore nacelle manufacturing facility in New York state. The construction of the plant depends on Siemens Gamesa's wind turbines being selected by the New York authorities in their third offshore wind solicitation. The planned facility would be located at the Port of Coeymans. According to Siemens Gamesa, the facility would create up to about 420 direct jobs, support a significant rise in indirect jobs and represent an investment of around $500 million in the region.

Norwegian offshore vessel owner Siem Offshore said Monday it had signed a contract with an undisclosed client for operations in South East Asia for the Siem Barracuda offshore subsea construction vessel (OSCV), and an extension for OSCV Siem Stingray. Offshore wind turbine maker will deliver its giant 15MW wind turbines for Equinor and BP joint venture's offshore wind farms in New York.Vestas said Monday that, Empire Offshore Wind, a joint venture between Equinor and BP,  had named it as the preferred turbine supplier for the 2.1 GW Empire Wind 1 and Empire Wind 2 offshore wind projects in New York, USA. Norway's Kongsberg Maritime has secured contracts with Chinese shipbuilder COSCO Shipping (Qidong) Offshore for the delivery of its Wind Turbine Installation Vessel (WTIV) technology.Under the deal worth 49 million euros (around $58 million) Kongsberg Maritime will deliver technology packages for two new NG-20000X WTIVs, which COSCO is constructing for the Denmark-based service provider Cadeler.Cadeler announced the order of two WTIVs from COSCO last week. Danish offshore vessel owner Esvagt has informed that its Esvagt Dana vessel has returned back to the Baltic 2 offshore wind farm in Germany to support wind turbine maker Siemens Gamesa during maintenance work.For the next three to six months, the ’Esvagt Dana’ will connect its gangway system to the offshore wind turbines in the 288MW Baltic 2 wind farm.
