Lauritzen Reflags Two Gas Carriers to Denmark

Lauritzen Kosan has reflagged two of its ships to Denmark for the first time since 2003. The registers of the two vessels, the Helena Kosan and the Linda Kosan, have been changed to the Danish International Register of Shipping (DIS) as they begin a period time charter which will require an EU flag. “The reflagging of these two gas carriers to Denmark is driven by commercial arguments, and it goes to show that the Danish flag is now very close to being as competitive as Malta, Singapore and the Isle of Man.

Gulf Navigation Refinances Two Carriers

Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC has announced refinancing 'Gulf Mishref' and 'Gulf Mirdif' petrochemical carriers in less than a month after increasing its capital to AED 1 billion through an Initial Public Offering (IPO). The move underlines the increasing demand for the company’s shipping services, which requires increasing its fleet capacity to meet the demand for its services in the region. Refinancing the two carriers, Gulf Mishref and Gulf Mirdif, is an important addition to the company's petrochemical transportation capabilities.

Eidesvik Scores Work for Two Vessels

Norwegian shipping company Eidesvik Offshore ASA  has signed a letter of intent (LoI) with Seabed Geosolution for the use of  two vessels. Contract commencement are ultimo January to primo February and the duration is expected to last for the remaining part of 2018. The LoI is for the use of the multi-purpose support vessel Subsea Viking and for the use of the seismic vessel Vantage. Recently, Eidesvik Invest AS, together with some of the largest shareholders in Eidesvik Offshore, have undertaken to subscribe new equity in a private placement of NOK 120 million at a price of NOK 5 per share.

Coast Guard Frees Vessels Frozen on the Hudson

The U.S. Coast Guard helped free two vessels beset by ice in the Hudson River this week as frigid temperatures in the U.S. Northeast continue to hamper the region’s commercial shipping. A Coast Guard icebreaker vessel freed tug Stephanie Dann near Kingston, N.Y. on Tuesday, as well as the tug Brooklyn stuck in ice near Saugerties, N.Y. on Sunday. The 140-foot icebreaking tug Coast Guard Cutter Penobscot Bay was able to clear an area for Stephanie Dann to continue its transit after the tug had been beset by ice for a full night.

General Maritime-Genmar Defiance Update

General Maritime Corporation (NYSE:GMR) announced that a jury in the Southern District of Texas federal court returned guilty verdicts against two vessel officers of the Genmar Defiance, one of the company's wholly-owned Aframax vessels, and GMM Portugal, a subsidiary of the company, on two counts for violating the Act to Prevent Pollution from Ships and 18 USC 1001, respectively, in connection with an investigation and trial previously reported by the company relating to potential failures by shipboard staff to properly record discharges of bilge waste during the period of November 24, 2007 through November 26, 2007. The company intends to appeal the guilty verdicts and to make motions for a judgment of acquittal and a new trial.

A/S Dampskibsselskabet TORM Orders Two More Newbuildings

Dampskibsselskabet TORM (TORM) a shipping company specializing in the worldwide commercial operation of a fleet of tankers and bulk carriers, has signed a contract with Dalian New Shipbuilding Ltd. in the People's Republic of China for construction of two high specification 110,000 dwt Aframax (LR2) product tankers. This order is based on the two options granted when TORM placed the initial order for two vessels in June 2003. TORM has an option for a further two vessels. The two vessels are due to be delivered in 1st and 2nd quarter 2007, and represent the latest additions to the substantial newbuilding program initiated in 1999. The seven remaining newbuildings will be delivered in 2003-7 and represent an investment of more than $250 million.

Concordia Maritime Invests in more Tankers

Concordia Maritime has exercised existing options and placed an order with the Brodosplit shipyard in Croatia for a further two vessels in the P-MAX series, thus extending the series to ten units. Concordia Maritime has invested a total of more than SEK 3.5 billion in its new fleet, which currently consists of ten P-MAX tankers and two Panamax tankers. The two vessels now ordered are expected to be delivered in 2010.

GOGL Takes Two More Vessels from Quintana

Golden Ocean Group (GOGL)  said it has taken delivery of additional two vessels, Q Myrtalia and Q Shea, from Quintana Shipping  in exchange for 1.95 million consideration shares. NOL To Charter Two Vessels For APL

Neptune Orient Lines Ltd (NOL) will reportedly charter two new large container ships for use by APL, its container transportation and logistics unit. The two vessels, each with a capacity of 5,500 teu, will be deployed by APL in Asia-Europe trade, the company reported. NOL officials said the two vessels, to be built at the Samsung Heavy Industries yards at Koje Island in South Korea, were scheduled to be delivered in mid-2001. NOL will charter the vessels from owner Greece-based Danaos Shipping Company for a period of five years or longer, bringing total NOL container capacity to about 215,000 teu.

Daewoo Gets $740m in Contracts for Two Vessels

Reuters reported that Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co. had secured a combined $740m order to build a drill ship and a crude oil carrier. The two vessel orders underlined booming oil exploration around the world, Daewoo said in a statement, as crude oil futures have set a series of recent records. The shipbuilder will deliver the drill ship for $623.8m to an unidentified shipping firm from the Oceania Continent, while the crude oil carrier will go to a Europe-based shipper by the end of 2010.

Within a busy 18 day period, Austal USA have launched their first two vessels, Anapaula and Veronica from the new, high-tech facility in Mobile, Ala. The 120 man workforce watched with pride as on December 2 and then December 20 each of the vessels made its way onto the launch barge supplied by part owner, Bender Shipbuilding and then on to a dry-dock for floating off. The Austal USA team who have produced these two vessels in just 8 months in the large construction hall on the edge of the Mobile river. These vessels are also the first of a new range of crew boats designed by Austal Ships of Australia which vary in length from 135ft. up to 170ft. While alongside, these vessels will be commissioned followed by sea trials which are already underway for Anapaula, the first to be launched.

NewLead to Acquire Two Panamax Dry Bulk Vessels

NewLead Holdings Ltd announced today that it has previously signed a term sheet with a leading financial institution to provide 75% debt financing for two second-hand Panamax vessels for a total of $35 million. The two vessels are expected to be delivered to NewLead's fleet within the next three months, subject to the receipt of the necessary financing for the balance of the purchase price. NewLead Holdings Ltd. is an international, vertically integrated shipping and commodity company that manages product tankers and dry bulk vessels. NewLead currently owns two dry bulk vessels and has agreements to acquire three eco-type Handysize dry bulk vessels, one of which is a newbuilding. NewLead owns a wash plant and a mine in Kentucky, USA.

Topaz Reports Revenue up 7%

Q1 2014 revenue up 7% over Q1 2013 to US$ 89.4 million as a result of the expansion of the core vessel fleet and high vessel utilization. Topaz Energy and Marine has announced the results of its subsidiary Nico Middle East Ltd. (“NMEL”) for the three months ended 31 March 2014 (“the period”). The period has seen continued strong and profitable growth across the Group’s activities with revenues up 7% and EBITDA up 22%. This growth is primarily attributable to new vessels that have been added to the fleet and the improved utilization we have achieved across our core fleet.

TBS Acquires Tweendeckers

TBS International Limited announced that it has entered into agreements to acquire two sister tweendeckers, the M.V. Wedellsborg and the M.V. Frijsenborg. TBS has agreed to acquire these vessels en bloc for $46 million charter free and they are expected to be delivered to the Company in the first quarter of 2008. The M.V. Wedellsborg, to be renamed the M.V. Ottawa Princess, is a 1987 built tweendecker of 22,800 dwt and the M.V. Frijsenborg, to be renamed the M.V. Caribe Maiden, is also a 1987 built 22,800 dwt tweendecker. In addition to these two vessels, TBS also expects to take delivery of three handysize bulk carriers (the MVs Oneida Princess, Mohave Maiden, and Zuni Princess) and one additional multipurpose tweendecker (the M.V. Hopi Princess) by the end of the first quarter 2008.

Two Patrol Vessels Launched for Indian Navy

Two Naval Offshore Patrol Vessels (NOPVs) for the Indian Navy were launched in Reliance Defense shipyard at Pipavav on July 25, 2017. The vessels, named INS Shachi and INS Shruti, are the first two vessels in a five-vessel series which are being built in accordance to built under the Indian Register of Shipping’s (IRClass) ‘Rules and Regulations for Construction and Classification of Naval Ships’. Austal’s Deliveries From New Yard Ahead of Schedule

Two 150ft. Crew / Supply vessels, Anapaula and Veronica, have been completed and handed over by Austal USA to owners Otto Candies LLC ahead of the contracted delivery date and by the end of January 2002 had already reached Del Carmen in Mexico where they will be based. Not only were these vessels built in record time, but also exceeded contract speed targets in official sea trials. These were the first two vessels delivered from the new, state-of-the-art facilities commissioned less than a year ago. The Austal USA team produced these two vessels in 8 months in the main construction hall at this Mobile, Ala. facility. The 150 ft. Crew / Supply Vessel is the first of a new line of crew boat designs that have been developed by the Austal Group.

Polarcus Amani Delivered to Sovcomflot

A 5.5 year bareboat charter agreement between Polarcus Limited Norwegian subsidiary Polarcus Amani AS and SCF GEO AS (Sovcomflot) has been signed, and the vessel delivered to Sovcomflot in Bergen. The vessel was delivered without streamers, providing the Polarcus fleet with one excess streamer package, which the company said will significantly reduce its capital expenditure requirements through 2017 and 2018. The Polarcus Group now has two vessels on long-term bareboat charter and operates a fleet of four vessels in the contract market.

Rolls-Royce to Equip Five New Cruise Ships

Rolls-Royce has announced a new deal to provide propulsion and deck machinery to five cruise ships being built by Fincantieri at their Monfalcone and Ancona Shipyards in Italy. The firm orders are to supply a Promas system, deck machinery and steering gear to two vessels being built for Viking Ocean Cruises. The contract also covers steering gear and deck machinery for a further vessel under construction for Regent Seven Seas Cruises. Steering gear is also being provided for two vessels being built for Princess.

Njord Offshore Implements Maintenance Software

U.K.-based Marine Software Ltd. delivered Marine Planned Maintenance software to Njord Offshore, to manage planned maintenance activities for their 21-meter crew transfer vessels (CTVs) Njord Avocet and Njord Kittiwake. These two vessels are purpose built for the Offshore Windfarm Industry in a series of vessels managed by Njord Offshore. Designed by naval architect’s BMT Nigel Gee and built by Strategic Marine, these vessels are the first of six which are designed, surveyed and classed to DNV + IAI HSLC R2 Wind Farm Service 1 notation.

Alabama Shipyard to Build Two OSVs for Hornbeck Offshore Services

Atlantic Marine, Inc. has signed a contract with Hornbeck Offshore Services, Inc. of Mandeville, Louisiana to build two (2) large, high capacity, Offshore Supply Vessels (OSVs) to serve the deepwater offshore oil industry in the Gulf of Mexico and worldwide. These two vessels will be built at Atlantic's Alabama Shipyard Division in Mobile, Alabama. Both vessels are scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2002. The contract includes options for two additional vessels. The vessels are state-of-the-art OSVs, each equipped with dynamic positioning capability. The vessels will be U.S. flagged and ABS Classed with dual U.S. Coast Guard certificates for both subchapter I and L. The vessels are 260 ft.
