Outfitting Work Set to Start for Olympic's CSOV Built by Ulstein

The first of two methanol-ready newbuild Construction Service Operation Vessels (CSOVs) for the Norwegian shipowner Olympic has arrived at the outfitting yard of Ulstein Verft in Norway.The contract between Olympic and Ulstein was signed in 2022 and includes the construction of two CSOVs for offshore wind at Ulstein Verft.The vessels are based on the ULSTEIN SX222 design, and have a length of 89.6 meters with a beam of 19.2 meters. The CSOVs are able to accommodate 126 people in 91 cabins.

Olympic Orders Up to Four CSOVs from Ulstein Verft

Norwegian shipbuilder Ulstein Verft AS said it has secured a contract from Norway-based Olympic to build two Construction Service Operation Vessels (CSOVs), with options for two additional vessels.The vessels, which are based on the ULSTEIN SX222 design with TWIN X-STERN from Ulstein Design & Solutions AS, will be 89.6 meters long with a 19.2-meter beam, able to accommodate 126 people in 91 cabins. 13 ULSTEIN X-CONNECT Systems Sold

Deliveries of alarm and monitoring systems (ULSTEIN AMS) for 13 tugs have been contracted to Ulstein Power & Control by US based MT. The systems are based on ULSTEIN X-CONNECT. The alarm monitoring is a part of Ulstein Power & Control’s expertise in integrated systems, while MT (Marine Technologies LLC) is a maritime expert in areas such as dynamic positioning and navigation systems. Ulstein Systems Ordered for New Rock Installers

Ulstein Power & Control announced it has been contracted by Chinese shipbuilder AVIC Weihai Shipyard Co. Ltd. to deliver power and control for two subsea rock installation vessels for offshore dredging and construction specialist Jan De Nul Group. According to Ulstein Power & Control, the scope of its delivery includes the power package consisting of generators, switchboards, motor control center, thruster frequency converters and motors, the automation system ULSTEIN IAS, DP system and thruster control, as well as the commissioning. Ulstein will deliver the products and systems in 2016.

Steel Cutting Ceremony for Otto Offshore Newbuild

On Friday 6 February 2015, Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd., China, held a steel cutting ceremony for the first of four platform supply vessels of ULSTEIN’s PX121 design being built for Otto Offshore Limited. The shipbuilding contracts at Wuchang were announced in August 2014. Ulstein Design & Solutions is contracted on the delivery of ship design & equipment to four PX121 type platform supply vessels. The contract includes the deliveries of design, engineering and main equipment. An extensive delivery from Ulstein Power & Control includes integrated control systems, bridge (radio, navigation), switchboard, diesel electric propulsion and frequency converters, and communication systems.

Ulstein Designs PSVs for Otto Offshore

Ulstein Design & Solutions has entered into a contract with Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd, China, for the delivery of ship design and equipment for four PX121 type platform supply vessels. The shipowner is the Singapore based Otto Offshore Ltd., who will receive all vessels in 2016. The contract also includes an option for four additional vessels. These PX121 vessels are capable of supporting offshore activities which are being carried out further from shore and in deeper waters. The vessels can carry flexible loads.

Seatankers Takes PSV Delivery

On January 27, 2014, three weeks after the last delivery in the Seatankers twelve series, Zhejiang delivered the seventh platform supply ship, Sea Spider, to the Seatankers Group. All twelve PSVs are designed by Ulstein. Sinopacific’s Zhejiang yard in Ningbo, China, entered into a contract with Ulstein for the delivery of twelve design packages for platform support vessels of the PX105 design for Seatankers Group. The first delivery was in Q1 2013. The PX105 designed vessels are considered as large PSVs.

Seatankers Receives Third Ulstein-designed PSV

The third Ulstein designed platform supply vessel of the PX105 design for Seatankers, Sea Forth, was delivered on August 16, 2013 from the Zhejiang yard in Ningbo. Ulstein delivers twelve design and equipment packages to the Chinese yard, where all the vessels for Seatankers Group will be constructed. The packages include design, engineering and equipment supplies. The ships comply with the DNV requirements of the Clean or Clean Design standards. The ship is designed with the patented X-BOW hull line design.

Blue Guardian Ready for the North Sea

The platform supply vessel Blue Guardian was delivered from Ulstein to Blue Ship Invest on June 28, 2013. The vessel is contracted to work in the North Sea. Blue Guardian is the fifth in a series of six platform supply vessels (PSV) of the PX121 design from Ulstein Verft, and the vessel is under the management of Remøy Shipping. From mid-July, the ship has been contracted by Det Norske Oljeselskap ASA and Repsol Exploration respectively, to support the jack-up rig Maersk Giant in its work on two subsea wells on the Norwegian continental shelf in the North Sea.

Ulstein Verft delivered Blue Thunder, the fourth of six medium-sized platform supply vessels of the PX121 design from Ulsteinto Blue Ship Invest, on Monday, May 13, 2013. Ulsteein received DNB’s Innovation Award 2012 of 1mill NOK in the National Final in Trondheim on March 12, 2013. Ulstein Bridge Vision is a concept for a modern ship bridge where safety in complex operations has been given major focus. Polarcus Adira & Amani

Polarcus Limited received its eighth 3D seismic vessel in June, when Polarcus Adira was delivered at Ulstein Verft in Norway. ULSTEIN Delivers Seismic RV

ULSTEIN delivered the seismic research vessel Oceanic Sirius to Eidesvik and CGGVeritas on 3 October. Oceanic Sirius is designed and built in accordance with strict environmental standards and equipped with state-of-the-art technology for advanced seismic research operations. She is owned by a joint venture between Eidesvik and CGGVeritas. The vessel was named in a ceremony in Ulsteinvik on 1 October. Oceanic Sirius is sister vessel to the Oceanic Vega, delivered by ULSTEIN in July 2010.

Hide Joins the Ulstein Group

Gunnar H. Hide has been appointed as the new managing director of Ulstein Power & Control. Hide has a background from the maritime industry and has among others, worked as a manager in Acel, ABB, Stadt Automation, and IKM Group. Hide said that had his first job with Ulstein in 1980, at Ulstein Smevik in Herøy, where he was for three years and took his mechanical certificate. Hide is a graduate mechanical engineer from Horten Engineering School.
