Fruergaard to Take Over as CEO of Pacific Basin

Hong Kong-headquartered dry bulk shipping company Pacific Basin announced Wednesday that Martin Fruergaard will take over as CEO, replacing longtime chief executive Mats Berglund, who has decided to retie. Fruergaard, the current CEO of Danish gas shipping company Ultragas, will relocate to Hong Kong and join Pacific Basin in early July. Maersk Names Zero Carbon Shipping Center's Management Team

Langh Tech's Scrubbers for Four Gas Tankers

Laugfs Buys Third LPG Carrier Vessel

Laugfs Maritime Services, the shipping division of Sri Lanka’s Laugfs Gas,  has purchased its third Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) carrier vessel for USD 2.875 million, reports  Lanka Business Online quoting company sources. The 1998-built 3,500-cbm Lady Martine was bought from Ultragas at a price of $2.875m and will be renamed Gas Courage. It will be reflagged to Sri Lanka. Laugfs Maritime Services private limited operates with Board of Investments of Sri Lanka approval to carry out a business of sea cargo operation services. The new vessel will join the company’s two other LPG carriers, Gas Challenger and Gas Success. Laugfs Maritime Services purchased its second Liquid Petroleum gas carrier vessel "Gas Dorado" with a total investment of US$ 6.0 million in October 2015.

ULTRAGAS Chooses Transas ECDIS Solutions

ECDIS manufacturer Transas Marine was awarded a contract for the supply of Dual ECDIS to ULTRAGAS, an ULTRANAV company and owner and operator of highly specialized vessels for transportation of Liquefied Petroleum Gases (LPG) and petro-chemical gases with years of experience in this demanding segment of shipping. As a part of the contract, ULTRAGAS has ordered Dual Navi-Sailor ECDIS Multifunction Display (MFD) sets with Radar overlay for installation on board of five additional vessels.

IZAR Gijon Delivers Chemical Carrier

IZAR Gijón delivered on 27th. June the 22.700 m3 chemical carrier to Chile company Ultragas Ltda, after the ceremony of blessing, whose godmother was Claudia Sotomayor. This ship is fitted with double hull and double bottom and contains 28 stainless steel tanks, prepared to transport different IMO I and IMO II chemicals as well as refined oil products. Main particulars of “Guanaco”, floated on 27th. - Lenght overall – 161,23 m. - Lenght b.p. – 152,10 m. - Moulded breadth – 23 m. - Moulded depth – 12,95 m. - Drought – 9,25 m. For propulsion, IZAR’s Cartagena Diesel Engine Factory has provided 3 marine groups, each one equipped with a IZAR-MAN 5L 23/30 655 KW at 720 r.p.m. and an emergency group equipped with an engine IZAR-CAT 3306 190 KW at 1.8000 r.p.m.

IZAR Tapped To Build Chem Tanker

The reinvention of the Spanish shipbuilding industry under the moniker IZAR as of earlier this year is apparently an immediate success, as news emanating from the organization show the group is winning a number of lucrative, and diverse, shipbuilding projects. IZAR has won a contract to construct a 22,700 cu. m. oil product chemical tanker for a Chilean shipowner. The tanker will be built at Gijon shipyard, northern Spain, where it will be equipped with 28 duplex stainless steel tanks able to carry over 800 IMO I and IMO II chemical cargoes as well as refined oil products. The vessel has been designed with double hull and double bottom in the way of the cargo tanks.
