Shell, BG Merger Faces Roadblock

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has raised concerns that Royal Dutch Shell's proposed $70 billion takeover of BG Group may lessen gas supply competition in eastern Australia and delayed a final decision on the bid to November. The competition watchdog said, after preliminary investigations, the proposed takeover  could damage the interests of east coast and Queensland gas users and force up prices. ACCC said a large number of market participants had expressed concerns that the proposed takeover may lead Shell's Arrow Energy to sell its gas into BG's Queensland Curtis liquefied natural gas plant (QCLNG) for export.

FLNG Prelude: A New Dawn in the Age of Maritime & Energy

(Photo: Courtesy Royal Dutch Shell)

Longer than four football fields, as big as six Nimitz-class aircraft carriers and almost as tall as the Taipei 101 skyscraper, Royal Dutch Shell PLC is hoping that its record-setting, game-changing floating liquid natural gas (FLNG) facility will serve as a prelude to a killing in the offshore LNG market. It’s not alone. Many industry observers believe FLNG will do for gas offshore what fracking has done for shale or natural gas trapped in the ground on shore. “This is revolutionary technology …[that]… has the potential to change the way we produce natural gas…

SEA TECHNOLOGY:Successfull AUV operation Ormen Lange

Norsk Hydro ASA contracted Stolt Offshore to perform AUV seabed charting in the Storegga slide August/September 2002. NUI AS with the AUV NUI Explorer was subcontracted by Stolt Offshore to perform the AUV services. Pushing the exploration and production of oil and gas into ultra-deep water is facing a significant challenge of installing subsea production equipment and transport pipelines in rough and complex seabed terrain. The pipeline systems to bring the oil and gas ashore often have to cross steep escarpments leading to shallower continental shelves. As a result detailed knowledge about seabed conditions becomes a key factor affecting the engineering and construction activities. Identification of the most optimal site and pipeline route means significant lower construction cost.

Royale Energy to Drill Gulf Coast Well With Basin Exploration

Royale Energy, Inc. has reached an agreement with Basin Exploration Inc. to participate in the drilling of the West Cameron 72 prospect. The West Cameron 72 prospect is located in offshore Louisiana at a water depth of 41 ft. The well will test for previously undeveloped gas from the West Cameron 72 field. The original field was discovered and produced in the early 1970's and 1980's. Total production from the field amounted to more than 70 billion cu.-ft. and one million barrels of liquid condensate out of the Miocene "Cris A" sands. Royale Energy has a 25 percent working Interest in the prospect with a short term option to acquire additional interest. Basin Exploration Inc. is the generator of this prospect.

EnerSea Gas Carrier Achieves Class Approval in Principle from ABS

EnerSea Transport LLC, in association with its maritime partners, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. ("K"Line) and Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (HHI), announced today that its VOTRANS gas carrier has achieved "Class Approval in Principle" (AIP) from ABS (American Bureau of Shipping). This marks a major milestone in the companies' ability to deliver compressed natural gas (CNG) through the world's first commercial large scale marine gas transport system of its kind. "Class Approval in Principle is further independent validation of VOTRANS' solid engineering foundation and allows us to launch our industry-leading CNG capabilities," said EnerSea's Managing Director Paul Britton.
