Eastern Shipbuilding Donates $250K to USCG Museum

Eastern Shipbuilding has donated $250,000 for the construction of the National Coast Guard Museum in New London, Connecticut, the National Coast Guard Museum Association announced yesterday. Eastern Shipbuilding, a diversified ship builder headquartered in Panama City, Florida, made the donation to the National Coast Guard Museum Association, which is currently engaged in a nationwide fundraising campaign to build a museum to honor the men and women of the U.S. Coast guard. The Coast Guard is currently the only branch of the U.S. military without a dedicated museum.

WSTC to Seek Public View on Proposed Fare Increases

Aross-the-board proposed ferry fare increases: Washington State Transportation Commission (WSTC) to hold public consultations. The increase is necessary to ensure the state meets the ferry-fare-revenue target set by the Legislature in the recently enacted 2013 - 2015 transportation budget. The commission is seeking public comment on the proposal during the coming weeks and plans to make a final decision during its meeting at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Union Station in Seattle.

New Vice Chair at WTS International

WTS International, the association for the professional advancement of women in transportation, elected Beverley K. Swaim-Staley, President and CEO of Union Station Redevelopment Corporation (USRC), to the position of Vice Chair of its board of directors. The position, left vacant when the board’s previous vice chair, Dana Hook, P.E., Vice President at CDM Smith, moved into the position of Chair in 2012. As President of URSC, Swaim-Staley leads the development and implementation of a comprehensive master plan for Union Station in Washington, DC.
