New Mississippi Container Terminal Planned

Plans have been put in motion to develop a new intermodal container terminal on the lower Mississippi River. Designed to service the largest ocean carriers, the new 1,000 acre container terminal will be capable of docking vessels up to 20,000 TEU with deep-water access and 21,600 linear feet of waterfront allow for multiple ocean and APCT vessels to be accommodated simultaneously. Rand Appoints Two Directors

Rand Logistics, Inc. announced that John Binion, most recently the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of United Maritime Group, has been appointed to Rand's Board of Directors. Rand also announced that Michael Lundin, who has served as an independent director of Rand since April 2008, has been appointed Lead Independent Director of Rand's Board of Directors. Laurence Levy, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Rand commented, "We are delighted to welcome John to our Board. As COO and EVP of United Maritime, John was integrally involved in all aspects of this leading provider of dry bulk logistics solutions, which included operating the largest Jones Act compliant coastwise fleet of dry-bulk carriers and self-unloading vessels, as measured by dead weight tons.

United Maritime to Sell U.S. Bulk Terminal

United Maritime Group, announces agreement to sell U.S. United Bulk Terminal, to an affiliate of Oiltanking Holding Americas, Inc. United Maritime Group, LLC has announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to sell U.S. United Bulk Terminal, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of UMG, to Bulk Handling USA, Inc., an affiliate of Oiltanking Holding Americas, Inc. Located in Davant, La., UBT is the largest dry bulk terminal on the Lower Mississippi River, with over 11 million tons of annual throughput capacity, providing storage, blending and transfer services to major producers of coal and petcoke products for the domestic and export markets.

Moody's: Sale of Inland River Barge Ops is a "Credit Negative" for United Maritime

New York, April 24, 2012 -- Moody's issued a press release on the planned sale of United Maritime Group, LLC's ("UMG", B2 stable) inland river barge operation, United Barge Line, LLC ("UBL") to Ingram Barge Company (not rated) for $222 million, calling it is negative for the company's credit profile. UMG's business profile will change and cash flow generating capacity will meaningfully reduce with the divestiture of its inland river barging operations.  However, net proceeds likely in excess of $200 million could fund the repayment of a significant portion of UMG's indebtedness.  For further information, please see www.moodys.com

United Maritime Group, LLC Announces Agreement to Sell U.S. United Barge Line, LLC to Ingram Barge Company. United Maritime Group, LLC ("UMG") today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to sell U.S. United Barge Line, LLC ("UBL"), a wholly owned barge transportation subsidiary of UMG, to Ingram Barge Company. Based in Tampa, the subsidiaries of UMG operate businesses in the dry bulk transportation and logistics industry, including U.S. United Bulk Terminal, LLC, the largest coal and petroleum coke handling facility in the Gulf of Mexico, and U.S. United Ocean Services, LLC, which operates the largest Jones Act dry bulk ocean fleet by capacity.

Boatracs Announces Fleet Wide Installation for United Barge Lines

Edoc Systems Remains Healthy in Sour Economy

For Victoria marine enterprise software developers Edoc Systems Group, the past years economic storm has been more about riding calm winds and following seas. They are expanding and hiring while others in the software industry have been retrenching and shedding staff. Edoc moved into their current location in the heritage Hartwig Court two years ago and have already outgrown the current space. On the strength of new business, they are in the last stages of hiring additional software developers to join the team of 18 Victoria and Vancouver based existing staff. In the past month, they have hired a new marketing and communications coordinator, and are in the process of renovating additional space, taking over an adjacent 600 sq ft store-front.
