To help American businesses pursue these opportunities, the Department of Commerceā€™s International Trade Administration (ITA) is hosting Discover Global Markets: The Blue Economy, in Providence, Rhode Island, Sept. 20-22, 2022. Based at the U.S. Embassy in Ottawa, Canada Senior Commercial Specialist Tracey Ford is leading a delegation with a Canadian buyer to the event.

Metal Shark Receives Presidential Award for Exports

Louisiana-based shipbuilder Metal Shark has been selected to receive the Presidentā€™s ā€œEā€ Award for Exports, the highest recognition any U.S. entity can receive for making a significant contribution to the expansion of U.S. exports.ā€œMetal Sharkā€™s achievements have undoubtedly contributed to national export expansion efforts that support the U.S. economy and create American jobs. The ā€˜Eā€™ Awards Committee was very impressed with Metal Sharkā€™s phenomenal growth in export sales over the past four years,ā€ said U.S.

Export Control Lists Include Key Marine Tech Categories  Each year, the U.S. Department of Commerce receives thousands of inquiries from businesses looking to export, many of which involve licensing questions. The Commerce Departmentā€™s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), together with other USG agencies, is responsible for export licensing and controls. BIS export licenses may be required for items (commodities, software, or technology) with proliferation, military, or terrorist uses, or which warrant control for other reasons.

Export licensing requirements can apply to a wide array of products, including marine technologies.

Global Markets Ripe for US Marine Technologies

The growing worldwide demand for marine technologies, port construction and shipbuilding is generating new export opportunities for U.S. companies. As more firms look to boost their bottom line by maximizing their reach to the more than 95 percent of world consumers who live outside of the United States, many are taking advantage of numerous export resources along the way. At the same time, many other businesses have yet to export. Triton Builds upon Recently Launched Service

Triton Overseas Transport, a global non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) and international freight service provider, today announced the recent launch of a less-than-container-load (LCL) export service from Houston to destinations throughout Central America and the north coast of South America. The newly launched service enhances Tritonā€™s sailings to the growing trade regions and provides reliable, fast transportation at competitive rates to its international customer base. ā€œCentral and South America hold a large consumer base that relies on U.S. exports to meet much of their trade needs. Seated in the Gulf of Mexico, Triton is excited to open two previously underutilized LCL trade lanes to the region,ā€ commented Sean Ratliff, sales associate at Triton Overseas Transportation.

Varna Products Receives Export Achievement Certificate

Cameron Park, Cal. - Varna Products was recently presented with the United States Department of Commerce, U.S. Commercial Service, Export Achievement Certificate for recent accomplishments in the global marketplace. Port of S La. in Columbia Trade Mission

As a result of the collaboration between the New Orleans U.S. Export Assistance Center and the United States Commercial Service in Colombia, representatives from the Port of South Louisiana and 12 other Louisiana-based companies with maritime-related ties participated in the Louisiana Trade Mission to Colombia, March 8-15, 2009.
