Sea Breeze 2015 Concludes in Odesa

The annual U.S.-Ukraine co-hosted multinational training exercise Sea Breeze 2015 concluded in Odesa, Ukraine and the Black Sea Sept. 12, 2015. Maritime forces from 11 allied and partnering nations participated in the 14th iteration of Sea Breeze. This year’s exercise included training at Ukrainian naval bases, airfields, and land bases, training within the Black Sea, and an additional exercise relative construction military port. The annual exercise seeks to enhance interoperability and strengthen regional security. The participating nations include Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Italy, Moldova, Romania, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The at-sea phase focused on maritime interdiction operations as a primary means to enhance maritime security.

U.S., Coalition Vessels Conduct MSO in Arabian Sea

The Commander and staff of U.S. Navy Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 50 embarked HNLMS Amsterdam (A 836) April 7, joining USS Typhoon (PC5), and U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Wrangell (WPB 1332) in the Arabian Sea to conduct maritime security operations (MSO) in support of Combined Task Force (CTF) 150. MSO set the conditions for security and stability in the maritime environment as well as complement the counter-terrorism and security efforts of regional nations. These operations deny international terrorists use of the maritime environment as a venue for attack or to transport personnel, weapons or other material.
