Damen Ships Multiple Vessels to Canada in Single Shipment

Five Damen vessels have made their way across the Atlantic Ocean on a unique voyage to Canada. Early this year, Damen Shipyards Group signed a contract with Ontario-based Doornekamp Construction for the delivery of a Shoalbuster 3209. The vessel was formerly part of Damen Marine Services’ charter fleet. What seemed an ordinary ship sale contract was, in fact, just the beginning.Shortly after this initial contract, Doornekamp Construction placed on order with Damen for a Stan Pontoon (barge) 7524.

Polarcus Nadia on the Move after Long Layup

Polarcus' seismic vessel Polarcus Nadia is on the move, after more than five years in lay-up in the Netherlands, according to information released Friday by Dutch Marine Contractors.The Polarcus Nadia, delivered in 2010, was cold stacked by Polarcus in early 2015 during the previous oil price downturn, in a move to cut operating costs, with little hope it would be reactivated soon. The former CEO Rod Starr said at the time that it cost around $1.6 million per year to cold-stack the vessel, and, up to $40 million to reactivate it.The Polarcus Nadia has been in layup ever since, with limited info on the vessel since the cold-stacking.Dutch Marine Contractors on Friday said: "After a few years of layup, MV Polarcus Nadia departed this morning from Amsterdam to Norway.

Green Award Certification for OSVs

Green Award certification program has been extended with a new ship type – Offshore Supply vessels (OSVs). The first ship of this type the ‘’Lingestroom’’ has been successfully certified.The Lingestroom, one of the ships of Van Wijngaarden Marine Services B.V. received a Green Award certificate on 26 February, 2019. The Lingestroom has become the first Offshore Supply ship after Green Award, a certification and incentive program for shipping, had introduced certification for this type of vessels.The certificate was presented by Jan Fransen, executive director of Green Award to congratulate Van Wijngaarden Marine Services B.V. with pioneering Green Award certification for Offshore Supply ships.The certification programme for Offshore Supply ships was launched in the first quarter of 2019.

Van Wijngaarden Orders Second Damen Shoalbuster

The contract has been signed between Van Wijngaarden Marine Services and Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld for the build and delivery of a Damen Shoalbuster 3512, to be named the LINGESTROOM. This will bring the total number of Shoalbusters in the Van Wijngaarden fleet to five including the NOORDSTROOM, also a Shoalbuster 3512, which was delivered in April 2016. Damen Delivers Floating Pump Station to Hamburg

Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) has taken delivery of the Sauger III, a custom floating pump station by Damen Shipyards Group for supporting dredging operations. Situated 110 km inland on the River Elbe and with a tidal range of 3.6 meters, the Hamburg Port requires regularly dredging like most ports. 37 metres in length and 10 meters wide, the station features a powerful, dual pump installation and comfortable accommodation for the crew. The Sauger III was built to a completely new design following a European tender process that began with ten yards and was finally won by Damen.

Damen Delivers Its Largest Shoalbuster to Date

The first of Damen’s new Shoalbuster 3512 class was recently handed over to Dutch marine services specialist Van Wijngaarden Marine Services B.V. in the port of Boven-Hardinxveld, the Netherlands. At the ceremony the Lady Sponsor Elske de Bruijn-de Vries officially named the vessel and made a speech praising the technical capabilities of the vessel. Elske de Bruijn-de Vries is the wife of C.A. (Niels) de Bruijn, a member of the executive board of Van Oord, and is well-known for her role in the TV show ‘Het mooiste meisje van de klas’.

Damen has begun work on the latest and one of the largest yet in its shallow draft Shoalbuster range. Ordered by Van Wijngaarden Marine Services, the Shoalbuster 3512 is 35 meters in length, has a draft of 2.9 meters and GRT of 498 metric tons. The completely new design brings a range of benefits including a larger bridge, a working deck of 134m² and accommodation for up to 11 personnel.
