Paramount Maritime Appoints Connolly CEO

Paramount Group appointed Lee Connolly as CEO of Paramount Maritime Holdings, its naval and maritime shipbuilding subsidiary, based in Cape Town, Africa. Connolly held the position of CEO of Paramount Advanced Technologies, a Paramount Group company, until recently. Paramount Maritime Holdings, comprising ship builders Nautic Africa and Veecraft Marine, reported ongoing customer demands in the security vessel sector due to the myriad of maritime threats which today challenge the trajectory of Africa’s blue economies.

Veecraft Marine to Build Tug Pair for TNPA

Veecraft Marine, subsidiary of Paramount Maritime, said it has been awarded a tender from Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) to design and build two twin-screw, diesel powered workboats.The 100% South African-developed, 19.5-meter (LOA) vessels, manufactured with 60% local content, will feature a 7.25-meter beam, fixed-pitched propellers and twin rudders, offering 15-ton bollard pull (short tons-force).

Veecraft Marine, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Paramount Maritime Holdings and African-based global aerospace and technology company Paramount Group,  opened its new premises at a ceremony held in Cape Town. Veecraft Marine has manufactured more than 60  maritime platform solutions in various classes since its inception in 2002, totaling more than $130 million of contracts. Leveraging its specialization in the construction of 20 to 30 meter vessels, the company has secured an order book valued at more than $13.5 million.

Two Patrol Vessels Delivered in Nigeria

The construction of M/V Hezekiah and M/V Lady Dora, two 35-meter offshore security patrol vessels, has been completed for an undisclosed client in Lagos, Nigeria. The vessels are designed by Incat Crowther, classed by Bureau Veritas (BV) and were constructed by Veecraft Marine in Cape Town, South Africa. The vessels are slated to provide surveillance, intervention and protection to offshore assets of the Nigerian AGIP Exploration (NAE) located in the Gulf of Guinea. The vessels are also capable of providing replenishment of crews, fuel, and potable water to the NAE offshore facilities. Propulsive power for the vessels is supplied by three Caterpillar C32 ACERT engines, each producing 1,450hp at 2,300 rpm, driving Teinbridge fixed pitch propellers through ZF 3050 gearboxes.

Wave Piercing Cat Utility Craft Delivered to Nigeria

Incat Crowther has announced the delivery of Benreoch, a 30m Wave Piercing Catamaran Utility Craft built by Veecraft Marine in Cape Town, South Africa. The vessel was developed specifically for crew transfer to offshore platforms in Nigeria. At 30.3m in length and 8.5m in beam, Benreoch is 2.7m longer and 1m wider than her predecessors, Topaz Zenith and Topaz Zephyr. The larger platform has been used to increase the aft working deck capacity, with a 53m2 cargo area and rescue boat and crane.

Incat Crowther Designs Commercial Security Vessel

Incat Crowther has received a contract to design an offshore commercial oilfield security vessel for Veecraft Marine and its client, UTM Dredging Ltd, the designer announced today. Continuing its relationship with Veecraft Marine, a South African shipyard specializing in aluminum vessels, Incat Crowther said it has developed a high endurance, efficient, yet robust design. Two vessels of this design are under construction with future orders pending. The vessels are to be powered by three Caterpillar C32 ACERT engines, each producing 1,450hp at 2,300 rpm.

It could be argued that no other sector of the maritime market has experienced a design innovation revolution quite like the Offshore Service Vessel (OSV) market. Driven by demands to supply people, gear and goods to offshore installations that are increasingly further from shore in deeper waters, today’s OSV is a far cry from those built only a decade ago. Bulletproof Crewboats Delivered in Nigeria

Incat Crowther is pleased to announce that Veecraft Marine has delivered a pair of 20m Monohull Crewboats and signed a contract to build a 30m Wave Piercing Catamaran Crew Boat. Hot on the heels of delivering Magen Defender and Masud Defender, the hard-working South African yard has commenced construction of a 30m Wave Piercing Catamaran Crew Boat for Africa Diving Service Ltd. of Nigeria. The recently delivered 20m Monohull Crewboats are based on the proven platform of 2011’s Ahuva, also built by Veecraft Marine.

Incat Crowther to Build a 63-ft Monohull Crewboat

Incat Crowther announced a contract to design a 63-ft Monohull Crewboat to be built by VeeCraft Marine in South Africa. The vessel is characterized by its large foredeck, which has 27sqm of cargo space. The bow features a passenger boarding area for safe and efficient transfers to offshore factilites. A dedicated passageway is located to the port side, directly accessing the main passenger cabin. This cabin has comfortable seating for 25 passengers, and a bathroom. There is a rescue zone situated over the large aft platform. Below decks, the vessel has 4 crew berths, a galley and mess and a bathroom. The vessel will be powered by a pair of MAN 284 LE 413 main engines, each producing 1000hp @ 2100 rpm.

Incat Crowther Designs 98.5-ft Monohull Crew Boats

Incat Crowther announced a contract to design two 98.5-ft aluminium monohull crewboats for service in Nigeria. Incat Crowther’s brief is to design vessels that are easy to construct and robust in operation, with simple systems; in line with the demands of the region. To be built by Cape Town-based Veecraft Marine, the project represents the start of a new collaboration between Incat Crowther and the South African shipyard. Each vessel will feature a large working deck with guard rails. Available cargo space will be nearly 80m2. The main passenger cabin features doors forward and aft.
