CWind wins crew transfer vessel contract from Fred Olsen at Walney 1 & 2 offshore wind farms CWind announced that it has won an eight-month contract to provide crew transfer services to Fred Olsen at Walney 1 and 2 offshore wind farms. One of the more than 20 crew transfer vessels in the fleet operated by CWind, will assist with O&M activities at the two wind farms. North Florida Shipyards Installs Spar Deck
North Florida Shipyards completed its contract for the fabrication and installation of a spar deck on RoRo vessel Cape Rise owned by the U.S. Maritime Administration. Completed one week ahead of schedule, this is the third of a three-vessel contract - completed on schedule. The first two of the vessel series, Cape Race and Cape Ray owned by MarAd and operated by Intrepid Ship Management, were also outfitted with a spar deck measuring 42,000 sq. ft., allowing the vessel to carry an increased amount of vehicles.

ESG Deliver Towboat, Launch PSV
Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. informs that it has delivered the towboat MV Kimberly Hidalgo to Florida Marine, and on the same day launched the Platform Support Vessel (PSV) MV Bravante lX for Boldini S.A., Bravante Group of Brazil. The new tugboat is one of a series with EPA Tier 3 main propulsion engines and generators delivered to Florida Marine. The reduction gears are direct coupled Twin-Disc Model MG- 5600 with a 6.04:1 reduction supplied by Stewart Supply, Inc. of Harvey, Louisiana.
Pan United Shipyard Lands $38 Million Vessel Contract
Singapore's Pan United Corp Ltd said on Tuesday its unit Pan United Shipyard Pte Ltd won a $38 million shipbuilding contract from Shanara Maritime. The contract was for a diving construction and support vessel, which would be delivered in the first half of next year, Pan United said in a statement to the Singapore Exchange.
Report: IHI, JFE to Merge Shipbuilding Units
Reuters is reporting that JFE Holdings Inc and IHI Corp will merge their shipbuilding units in a bid to remain competitive as demand for vessels contracts and Chinese rivals undercut operations hobbled by a strong yen. JFE Holdings and IHI said they aim to finalize an agreement by August, with operations to begin next year.
SCI To Acquire Four Tankers
India's federal cabinet has approved state-run Shipping Corporation of India's proposal to acquire four Aframax tankers of 110,000 DWT each. The cabinet approval also permits SCI to borrow up to 80 percent of the vessel contract price from the international market. The four tankers will be acquired at a price of $35.76 million each on cash basis from South Korea's Hyundai Heavy Industries. The Aframax tankers will augment SCI's crude tanker tonnage to meet increased demand for crude oil transporation.

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. announce that Florida Marine Transporters, Inc. of Mandeville, La. exercised another additional 90’x32’x10’ “Canal Class” Inland Towboat to the six-vessel program currently under contract. In September 2014, Florida Marine Transporters, Inc. signed the seventh vessel and this additional towboat brings the total to 62 vessels contracted. Three of the now seven towboats have been delivered to Florida Marine since February 2014. This option vessel will be constructed from a design furnished by Gilbert Associates, Inc. of Boston, Mass.

On January 23, 2013, Florida Marine Transporters, Inc. signed the 56th vessel that is currently under construction and with these additional four towboats brings the total to 60 vessels contracted. This ongoing option contract adds four more towboats that will be constructed from a common design furnished by Gilbert Associates, Inc. of Boston, Mass. This series of towboats originally began with a 25 vessel contract with on-time deliveries starting in 2006. It has expanded to become the largest single builder new construction program of the same class towboat design in United States history.

Norway's DOF Group Announce Offshore Charters
DOF Subsea provider of subsea services to the offshore oil & gas industry worldwide announce new vessel contracts. DOF Subsea AS has entered into a contract with Helix Well Ops for the vessel Skandi Constructor. The contract is for three year's firm with three, one year options. The contract will commence in the second quarter of 2013. Skandi Constructor is a well intervention vessel of Ulstein SX 121 design built in 2009. The vessel has a LOA of 120.2 m and a breadth of 25.0 m and is equipped with a 150 T crane and a multi-purpose tower with 140 t lift capacity.

STX Europe Q3: OSV Keeps Good Margin
Cruise & Ferries remain challenging. STX Europe achieved operating revenues of NOK 4 480 million in third quarter 2012, a decrease of NOK 763 million compared to corresponding period 2011 (Q3 2011: NOK 5 243 million). Profit before tax for third quarter 2012 of NOK 250 million (Q3 2011: NOK 535 million). Third quarter shows that healthy EBITDA results continue from STX OSV, while the result of Cruise & Ferries business area is not satisfactory due to lower than expected activity levels. STX Europe AS received interim dividend of NOK 364 million in September from STX OSV. STX Europe AS repaid about NOK 184 million (US$32 million) of bank loan during Q3.

Aker Yards signed a contract worth approximately $22.8 million with Olympic Shipping to build a Platform Supply Vessel of the MT 6009 design. Delivery is scheduled for December 2006. Rella Out as CEO at Austal USA
Joe Rella, president and chief operating officer of Austal USA since 2007, has reportedly resigned from the company. Austal's board of directors has accepted his resignation. Brian Leathers, who had been serving as chief financial officer, will serve as interim president of Austal USA. Craig Perciavalle will serve as vice president of shipyard operations."This transition is a natural step," said Austal chief executive officer Andrew Bellamy. Austal has an active contract with the U.S. Navy to build nine Spearhead-class Joint High Speed Vessels (JHSV) under a 10-ship, $1.6 billion contract. Beyond this, the company also has a contract to build up to 10 Littoral Combat Ships (LCS). Austal is conducting a search for new leadership, according to the company.
