US Navy Awards Maintenance Contracts

The Pentagon last Friday announced that nine companies have been awarded contracts for repair, maintenance and modernization of U.S. Navy’s non-nuclear surface ships homeported or visiting the Northwest United States.The total value of the multiple award contract is a combined $944 million. The scope of work is for continuous maintenance, emergent maintenance, and Chief of Naval Operations availabilities, which are short-term or less than 10-months in duration.The nine companies are East Coast Repair & Fabrication…

Vigor Wins $35m Navy Contract

Vigor Marine LLC, Portland, Oregon, is being awarded a $35,000,000 firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite quantity contract to prepare for and accomplish repair and alteration requirements in support of upcoming dry-docking selected restricted availabilities (DSRA) for DDG 51-class destroyers. This contract will support the dry-docking and facility support requirements for a DSRA and includes dry-docking support, office spaces, warehousing, lay-down, security, crane support, utilities, galley services and other ship’s force support. Work will be performed in Seattle, Washington, and is expected to be completed by September 2020.

Vigor Wins $19.6m Navy Ship Repair Contract

Vigor Marine LLC, Portland, Oregon, is being awarded a $19,629,518 firm-fixed-price contract to prepare for and accomplish repair and alteration requirements for USS Kidd (DDG 100) Chief of Naval Operations scheduled, selected restricted availability (SRA) in support of the DDG-51-class destroyer ship repair program. For U.S. Naval Surface Combatants – typical repair and maintenance work to be performed in SRA includes modernization ship alterations; blasting, painting and surface preparation for complete or touch-up preservation, freeboard, struts, rudders, running gear, ground tackle, and sea-chest; hull, mechanical and electrical; various interior tanks. Work will be performed in Everett, Washington, and is expected to be completed by September, 2018.

Vigor Wins $10.3M Navy Repair Deal

Vigor Marine LLC, Portland, Oregon, is being awarded a $10,268,877 firm-fixed-price contract for a 45-calendar day shipyard availability for the regular overhaul and dry docking of USNS Matthew Perry (T-AKE 9). Work will include clean and gas-free tanks, voids, cofferdams and spaces, deckhouse preservation, main generator maintenance and cleaning, high voltage switchboard and emergency switchboard cleaning, shell and deck steel replacement, dry-docking and undocking, propeller shaft and stern tube inspect, forward and aft stern tube seal inspection and overhaul, underwater hull cleaning and painting, freeboard cleaning and painting,  sea valve replacements, renew flight deck nonskid, and reverse osmosis unit sea-chest installation.

Ship construction programs move ahead, but it’s not smooth sailing. Navies and Coast Guards everywhere face budgetary pressure, even in the U.S. which has the largest Navy in the world. Latest U.S. DofD Navy Contracts

Amongst the listing of new Department of Defense, Navy contracts. Vigor Marine LLC, Portland, Ore., is being awarded a $12,954,046 firm-fixed-price contract for a 120-calendar day post shakedown availability, regular overhaul and dry-docking availability of missile range instrumentation ship the USNS Howard O. Lorenzen (T-AGM 25). Work will include fuel oil fill; transfer and overflow systems modifications; main diesel engine fuel oil service piping modifications; relocation of AC seawater pumps; docking and undocking; and underwater hull cleaning and painting.

Vigor Marine Purchases Marine Industries Northwest

Vigor Marine LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Vigor Industrial, has completed the asset purchase of Marine Industries Northwest, Inc. (MINI) in Tacoma, Wash. The transaction closed on August 9, 2010 and Vigor Marine officially began vessel repair and conversion operations the same day. Key points of contact for the company are General Manager Adam Beck and Ship Repair Manager Mark Donahue. Adam brings 24 years experience in the marine repair industry, in locations ranging from San Diego to Alaska. Vigor Marine Expands Ops in Puget Sound

Vigor Marine LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Vigor Industrial, will purchase the assets of Marine Industries Northwest, Inc. (MINI) in Tacoma, Wash. The transaction is expected to close on or about August 6, 2010.
