New Fishing Boat to Be Built with ShipConstructor

Dutch fishing company Ekofish Group has contracted Damen Maaskant Shipyards Stellendam to build a new twin-rig fishing trawler, specially designed to support eco-friendly fishing. Vripack will be using SSI’s ShipConstructor software for design and engineering work on the vessel. Vripack has brought the quality of its yacht design experience to the design of its first twin-rigger fishing vessel. Using a holistic approach, Vripack closely collaborated with both Ekofish and Maaskant Shipyards to create a practical, yet innovative design.

Burger Boat Company Launches Tri-Deck Motor Yacht

Burger Boat Company launched the Sea Owl, a custom built, 142-ft Tri-Deck Motor Yacht. Sea Owl has been custom designed and built for an experienced American yachting family and is the result of an impressive collaboration between the Burger Design Team, Vripack Engineering and Andrew Winch Designs. Featuring a nautical and traditional interior for a contemporary lifestyle, Sea Owl has been completely personalized to achieve her owner’s taste and requirements. Multiple varieties of teak have been used throughout the vessel to create her traditional wall paneling, flooring and furniture.

Vripack Designs Heavy Duty Ribbon Offshore

Naval architect Vripack has designed a 43 ft. supply vessel together with Ribbon Yachts in the Netherlands. And by looking at the proportions between line and surface, one can easily see that the design of the agile and modern Ribbon 45 SC is the foundation for the sturdy Ribbon Offshore. Vripack’s challenge was to fit all their practical knowledge into this design without having to make any concessions. To accomplish this task, close collaboration with Ribbon Yachts tool place. The Ribbon Offshore is designed to be a compact fast supply vessel.

Time for Us Makes Progress

With the hull and superstructure well underway on the 154 ft. (47m) Tri-deck, Time for Us, the latest progress report looks excellent. The highly respected team at Vripack of The Netherlands and the Burger Design Team have joined forces to create a distinctive yacht of exceptional design and quality. Vripack has developed the structural and mechanical engineering along with a striking interior design and Burger is working to assist, support and bring the effort to fruition. The interior renderings by Vripack were met with overwhelming approval by the owners as well as the shipyard and are being put in motion. The timing couldn’t possibly be better with the sizable $2+ million investment that Burger recently made in high-tech, computerized joiner equipment.

Damen Maaskant Scores Twin-rigger Contract

Damen Maaskant Shipyards Stellendam said it has secured another contract to build a twin-rig fly shooting fishing trawler; this time for brothers Rense and Johannes de Boer. This is Damen Maaskant’s second fishing trawler contract in as many months, following close behind the contract to build the 32-meter long Spes Nova that was signed in November. Although the new vessel, to be named Meindert Senior, will have the same Vripack naval architects design as the Spes Nova, it displays some major differences.

Gamma Builds Customized Yacht for Andrea Bocelli

Gamma Yachts has built its most customized Gamma 20 so far, with smart design from Vripack, to opera singer Andrea Bocelli. Gamma Yachts announced the delivery of 22.1-meter M/Y Libertas, the third in its Gamma 20 ‘mini’ super yacht series. With design by Dutch company Vripack, the yacht has impressive guest space for its length overall as well as excellent fuel efficiency, the builder said. Built and designed in Holland, the yacht combines the precision and technical capabilities of the Dutch with world-class interior furnishings and materials from Italy.

Burger Boat’s Ingot, World Superyacht Awards

On May 16, 2009 INGOT, a 2008 Burger/Vripack designed 153 ft custom tri-deck motor yacht, was honored with a Judges' Commendation at the 2009 World Superyachts Awards in London’s Guildhall.  This commendation specifically recognizes INGOT’s design and construction. (www.burgerboat.com)

New Innovative CNG-Electric Hybrid Ferry Texelstroom

The M/S Texelstroom is more energy efficient, cleaner and more sustainable than her predecessors. CNG-electric hybrid ferry Texelstroom features some of the latest technological developments and innovation, such as a T-shaped beam which ensures a 14 percent car capacity improvement and a CNG/Diesel Hybrid propulsion which make the ship more cost-efficient and thus more environmentally friendly, says C-Job Naval Architects, who is responsible for the vessel’s complete initial, concept and basic design. Other innovations include solar panels, peak shaving batteries and heat recovery. At 135 meters long and 28 meters wide, the new ship is 5 meters taller and wider than her predecessors, C-Job said, though the new Texelstroom is still able to dock in the same port as the Dokter Wagenmaker.

Burger Boat Company – Monaco Celebrates Anniversary

One full year has passed since the Grand Opening of Burger Boat Company – Monaco. To celebrate the occasion, Burger hosted a reception for Monaco Captains in its belle époque office in the heart of Monaco. Information was shared on the current six projects currently underway at the shipyard in Manitowoc, Wis., including the 43m Tri-deck, Andrew Winch interior Sea Owl; the 47m Tri-deck, Vripack Interior Time For Us and the 44m traditionally-styled Fantail Cruiser, Ken Freivokh interior Sycara. Further discussion was given to the transformation at the renowned Burger Shipyard. In addition to the new 48,000 sq. ft. manufacturing complex that was completed in 2004, there is a new 43,000 sq. ft.

BMT Nigel Gee Secures LNG Ferries Contract

Naval architecture and marine engineering design consultancy BMT Nigel Gee said it has secured a project through an international tender process to design two 70-meter aluminum-hull catamaran RoPax ferries for Rederij Doeksen. BMT will be responsible for concept through to production design, and the exterior and interior styling will be performed by Vripack. Leading global contractor in seabed-to-surface engineering, construction and services to the offshore energy industry Subsea 7 S.A. and Chiyoda Corporation announced that Subsea 7 has agreed to acquire a 60% holding in Xodus Group, a leading energy consultancy, from Chiyoda. Huntington Ingalls Industries announced changes to its senior leadership team. Michael Smith, executive vice president, strategy and development, is moving to HII’s Technical Solutions division, where he will serve as president of the SN3 business and report to Michael Lempke, president of the Nuclear & Environmental group, effective immediately. Scott Stabler, executive vice president, internal audit, is moving into a new role as HII’s executive vice president and chief transformation officer, reporting to Mike Petters, HII’s president and CEO.

Bolidt showcases strength at Europort

Bolidt has been selected to supply decking solutions across a wide range of Dutch maritime projects that encompass the entire range of industry sectors. The Dutch flooring and decking specialist will be showcasing its comprehensive range of synthetic decking solutions at Europort 2015. Support in its domestic market has always been strong, but 2015 has been particularly positive for Bolidt. The company has completed numerous projects for both Dutch shipowners and shipyards, with Bolidt products selected as decking solutions for super yachts, navy vessels, fishing trawlers and ferries.

Burger Boat Receives Interior Design Award

Burger Boat Company announced that INGOT, a 153 ft Tri Deck Motor Yacht was presented with the inaugural Michael C. Fina Interior Design Award at the ShowBoats International Cavallino Yacht Hop on January 23, 2009. This new award is for design excellence and was launched by the purveyors of interior design accoutrements; Michael C. Fina. As Steven Fina commented, “Every single yacht considered had something unique, but we were looking beyond the ‘wow’ factor. ShowBoats Int’l Award to Burger Boat’s Ingot

Burger Boat Company is announced the presentation of the 19th Annual ShowBoats International Award for Best Motor Yacht Under 50m to Ingot, a 153-ft Tri Deck Motor Yacht, on October 31, 2009 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. This award recognizes a motor yacht that accomplishes the goals of her owner, builder and designer with undeniable style. Burger Boat Company’s Ingot premiered at the 2008 Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show and was extremely popular at the 2009 Monaco Yacht Show. Designed to be an environmentally friendly yacht, Ingot provides 5,025 square feet of interior space and 4,150 square feet of exterior deck and leisure space.

Qatar’s New Patrol Boat Completes Sea Trials

The first of two new 48-meter patrol boats for the Qatar Coastguard has completed sea trials. BMT has partnered with ARES Shipyard (ARES) to design and build 17 patrol boats from advanced composites in 36 months – 18 months ahead of schedule. The latest in the series – the 48-meter ARES 150 HERCULES has just completed sea trials with the vessel achieving a maximum speed of 37 knots. The total order from the Qatar Ministry of Interior, Coastguard has comprised of three different vessel sizes: five of 24 meters, 10 of 34 meters and two of 48 meters.

Engineering and technology group SENER has named Mercedes Sierra CEO of SENER in the United States. Sierra joined SENER in 1985, growing within the organization and functioning in many management roles. This experience includes leading many of the international and multidisciplinary contracts for SENER in the aerospace field. In 2005 Spain’s Ministry of Economy appointed Sierra the Director of Aeronautics and Space of the Agency for Technology & Innovation where she served on a number of international oversight organizations and committees.

Volvo Penta Names Kelleher VP Customer Support, Training

Volvo Penta of the Americas announced the appointment of Tony Kelleher as vice president for customer support and training. Kelleher will be responsible to support both marine and industrial segments within the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. Kelleher was previously director of the marine leisure segment with responsibility for OEM and dealer sales and partnership development for North America. He has also served as head of the service department and purchasing director within Volvo Penta of the Americas.
