Quality Liquefied Natural Gas Transport, LLC (“Q-LNG”) announced its further commitment to support the cruise line industry and its liquefied natural gas (“LNG”) marine fueling needs by executing a letter of intent (“LOI”) with VT Halter Marine, Inc. Commercial workboat philanthropy on display on PT-305: WWII Museum’s PT-305 sails again after a far reaching donor-funded restoration. In March, the National WWII Museum in New Orleans launched its reconstructed PT-305, built locally by Higgins Industries in 1943. The museum acquired the boat known as the USS Sudden Jerk in 2007, restoration began in 2009, and it now sails Lake Pontchartrain as an interactive exhibit. PT-305, with a fifteen-man crew, belonged to a 12-ship squadron operating in the Mediterranean from 1944 until the war ended in 1945.

Wärtsilä said it will provide a broad scope of products and solutions for a new articulated tug barge (ATB) that will be used to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel to cruise ships along the east coast of Florida, U.S. The 4,000 m3 capacity ATB is being built at the VT Halter Marine (VTHM) shipyard in Pascagoula, Miss. on behalf of Quality Liquefied Natural Gas Transport LLC (Q-LNG). When delivered, the vessel will be on a long-term charter with Shell Oil Co. The barge will be fitted with a Wärtsilä LNG cargo storage, handling and control system.

Oceangoing petroleum barge company Bouchard Transportation Co. celebrated the christening of two new vessels, M/V Kim M. Bouchard and B. No. 270, in New Orleans. The B. No. 270 was launched at VT Halter Shipyard Operations in Pascagoula, Miss., earlier this year, and the tug Kim M. Bouchard was launched at the Moss Point Marine facility in Escatawpa, Mississippi. VT Halter Marine, Inc. (VTHM), a company of Vision Technologies Systems, Inc. (VT Systems), announced a change of senior leadership. After more than 46 years in the shipbuilding business, including nearly two decades at VT Halter Marine, President and CEO Bill Skinner has announced his retirement. Skinner previously served as President, CEO and Director of ADDSCO Industries (1985-1989), the parent company of Alabama Maritime Corporation, where he also served as President (1982-1984) and as President of Alabama Shipyard, Inc. (1989-1997) following its acquisition by Atlantic Marine.

Bouchard Transportation Co., announced the launch of Barge B. No. 270, the first of two Articulated Tug Barge (ATB) units constructed by VT Halter Marine, Inc., a company of Vision Technologies Systems, Inc. The barge was launched at the Pascagoula Shipyard Operations in Pascagoula, Mississippi, on Friday, May 1, 2015, following the launch of tug Kim M. Bouchard, part of the ATB unit, at the Moss Point Marine facility in Escatawpa, Mississippi, on February 26, 2015. When paired, Kim M. Bouchard and Barge B. No. 270 will be delivered to Bouchard as part of its ongoing fleet expansion program.

VT Halter Marine announced the loss of its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Brigadier General Boyd E. King, (Ret.) who passed away unexpectedly on Monday, 20 April 2009 at the company’s Corporate Headquarters in . The cause of death reportedly was a heart attack. BG (Ret) Boyd King joined VT Halter Marine on December 16, 2002, as CEO. Before his appointment at VTHM, Mr. King was a retired Brigadier General with a 35-year career in the United States Army, culminating in his appointment as Director of Transportation, Energy and Troop Support on the Arm Staff.

VT Halter Marine Inc. will partner with the U.S. Department of Transportation – Maritime Administration to conduct a feasibility study for the design and manufacture of a dual-use vessel. A dual-use vessel is one that has both commercial and military applications. The four-part study has an estimated cost of $1,224,680, which VTHM will share on a 50/50 basis with the government. It will take approximately 26 weeks to complete the project. VTHM will evaluate known hull forms to help determine the feasibility of a dual-use vessel based on a fast Roll-on Roll-off (RoRo) ferry design.

A: My 35-year career with the U.S. Army started as an enlisted man and I worked my way through the ranks to Brigadier General.
