Wärtsilä, Carnival Ink Waste Treatment Systems Deal
Finnish marine equipment manufacturer Wärtsilä said it signed a framework agreement with Carnival Corporation covering the supply and installation of Wärtsilä’s waste water and dry waste treatment systems for up to 32 vessels across many of global cruise ship operator’s brands. Quark Orders Polar Expedition Ship from Brodosplit
Quark Expeditions has signed an agreement with Croatian shipbuilder Brodosplit to build a new expedition ship designed for operation in the polar regions.The 13,000+ gross metric ton, 200-passenger ship was designed by LMG Marin in cooperation with Quark Expeditions and is scheduled to be launched in 2020.“This ship will be more than just a ship – it will be an unrivalled operational base for polar expeditions,” said Andrew White, Quark Expeditions President.The ship will carry 20 zodiacs that will be rapidly deployable from an internal zodiac hangar with four embarkation points.
New EVAC Waste Management System Comprehensive
Evac can now supply the entire waste handling system for vessels and rigs, to accord with MARPOL Annex V regulations. The company say they can supply the entire waste handling system for vessels and rigs, covering both dry and wet waste, from food waste handling to onboard sanitary and wastewater treatment. From January 1st 2013, new requirements relating to the management waste of ships and rigs entered into force. All waste onboard, except food waste, has to be collected, or incinerated, according to the new IMO Marpol Annex V regulations. This requires storage space for waste onboard.
