BMT Oceanica Wins Major Water Corporation Bid

Marine and coastal environment specialist, BMT Oceanica (BMT), a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, is delighted to announce that it has won the bid to provide Ocean Outlet Monitoring services for Western Australia’s Water Corporation. BMT works with the Water Corporation to ensure ocean monitoring methods adopted are up to date and consistent with best-practice as global environmental standards have progressed. This collaborative approach has resulted in improvements to the program, without increasing costs. BMT’s staff has been specifically recruited and trained to manage ocean discharge programs and consistently produce technical work of the highest quality.

Habtoor Leighton Awarded Doha Pipeline Project

for KAHRAMAA â€“ Qatar’s General Electricity and Water Corporation. HLG, operating as Leighton Contracting (Qatar) WLL, is responsible for the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of 120km of 1600mm diameter ductile iron pipes and fittings. Works also include trench excavation, backfilling and construction of all valve chambers. This contract brings the total value of new project awards to HLG during 2014 to AED7.4 billion (US$2 billion) â€“ close to doubling HLG’s December 2013 work in hand to AED16.5 billion (US$4.48 billion). The pipelines project is the fifth project awarded to HLG by KAHRAMAA. KAHRAMAA was for the construction of the Duhail and Umm Qarn Reservoirs in 2009.

Australian Dual-Fuel Project Nears Completion

MAN Diesel & Turbo Australia’s 33-MW Owen Springs Project, featuring the new 51/60DF dual-fuel engine, has taken a significant step with the arrival of the first of three generator sets at the new power plant. MAN Diesel & Turbo is constructing the Owen Springs plant, located near Alice Springs in Australia’s Northern Territory, for Power and Water Corporation (PWC), a major Australian public utility, with commissioning of the first engine expected in July 2010. The current project phase, covering the construction of the power house, control room, switch room, administration centre, tank farm, pump house and maintenance workshop buildings, is set for completion on schedule in May 2010.
