Worker Medevaced from Platform off Louisiana

A worker was medevaced from a platform approximately 18 miles southeast of Grand Isle, La., the U.S. Coast Guard said on Friday.Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a call at approximately 2:40 a.m. stating a worker offshore was experiencing seizure like symptoms.Watchstanders coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew. The helicopter crew arrived on scene, hoisted the worker, and transferred him to West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero, La.According to the Coast Guard, the man was last reported in stable condition.

Woman Medevaced from Cruise Ship off SouthWest Pass

The Coast Guard medevaced a 50-year-old woman from a cruise ship 225 miles southeast of Southwest Pass, Saturday. Watchstanders at Coast Guard District 8 received a call at approximately 9 a.m., requesting a medevac for a woman who was reportedly suffering from internal bleeding. Watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and an Aviation Training Center Mobile, Ala., HC-144 Ocean Sentry fixed-wing aircraft crew. The helicopter crew arrived on scene at approximately 2:50 p.m. and hoisted the woman and a nurse and transported them to West Jefferson Medical Center in stable condition.

US Coast Guard Medevacs Cruise Ship Passenger

A 68-year-old man who reportedly suffered a seizure was medevaced from a cruise ship 180 miles off of Southwest Pass, La., Sunday, the U.S. Coast Guard said.   Watchstanders at Coast Guard District 8 directed the launch of an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans and an HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane crew from Coast Guard Air Station Corpus Christi after receiving a call requesting a medevac. A video of the medevac is available here.   The helicopter crew lifted the man and a nurse and transported him to West Jefferson Medical Center in stable condition.

USCG Medevacs Injured Mariner Near SW Pass

A Coast Guard helicopter rescue crew medevaced a man south of Southwest Pass, at around 12 p.m., Tuesday. The crew of an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans was dispatched approximately four miles south of Southwest Pass to pick up a mariner who had reportedly suffered a head injury. The helicopter crew lowered a rescue swimmer into the water, and the swimmer climbed into the boat to assist the injured man. The rescue swimmer prepared the man and the helicopter crew hoisted the man aboard, and then flew him directly to EMS at West Jefferson Medical Center. During the medevac, the offshore supply vessel Odessey Titan positioned themselves upwind of the sailboat to minimize wind and wave impact on the vessel.

Video: Crewman Medevaced from Oil Tanker

The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) medevaced a Filipino crewmember from a tanker 23 miles south of Southwest Pass, Sunday. Watchstanders with Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a call from the crew of the 748-foot Marshall Islands-flagged tanker Lorelei reporting a crewmember was suffering from a reportedly broken left leg. A Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew was directed to launch and arrived on scene to hoist the Filipino crewmember at 12:38 p.m.

Coast Guard Medevacs from Two Carnival Cruise Ships

A Coast Guard helicopter airlifted a 25-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman from the 'Carnival Splendor', and the same day lifted a 36-year-old passenger from the 'Carnival Dream'. The Coast Guard informs that the cruise ship was approximately 135 miles southeast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina when it requested medical help. An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, North Carolina, hoisted two patients into the helicopter and took them to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina, where they were reported to be in stable condition. CMF’s USS Bulkeley Frees Ship from Pirates

A request for assistance from a Japanese-owned merchant vessel in the Somali Basin led to Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) warship USS Bulkeley (DDG 84) securing the release of the vessel and its 24 crew members from four suspected pirates, Mar. At approximately 3.00pm local time, Mar. 5, the oil tanker MV Guanabara reported it was under attack when it was 328 nautical miles south east of Duqm, Oman. Coast Guard Medevac Woman from Cruise Ship

A Coast Guard helicopter crew rescued a 64-year-old woman suffering from appendicitis aboard a cruise ship 170 miles south of New Orleans this afternoon. The Coast Guard was notified at 10:45 a.m. by the cruise ship Conquest that a passenger required urgent medical attention. An HH-65B Dolphin helicopter from Air Station New Orleans was dispatched to the scene where the crew lowered a rescue swimmer and litter to the cruise ship. The patient was placed into the rescue litter and brought aboard the helicopter for transfer to a local hospital, escorted by a nurse from the cruise ship. Once aboard the helicopter, the crew transported her to West Jefferson Medical Center in Harvey, La. where she is reported to be in stable condition.

Coast Guard Assist Injured Crewman

A Coast Guard helicopter crew from Air Station New Orleans airlifted an injured crewman suffering from a blow to the head aboard the fishing vessel MISS JADE, approximately 35 miles south of Grand Isle, La. The Coast Guard was notified shortly after 2 a.m. that Thao V. Le, 46, needed to be airlifted due to a head injury he sustained while working aboard the shrimp boat. A Coast Guard helicopter crew was dispatched to the scene to assist and transport the crewman to a medical facility for treatment. Once on scene the helicopter crew lowered a rescue swimmer to the vessel to assess the patient’s condition and to prepare him for hoisting.

Coast Guard Crews Respond to Deep-Gulf Distress Call

Coast Guard rescue crews are en route to a distress call involving an injured crewman about 180 miles southwest of New Orleans. The man, a crewman on the Liberian-flagged United Sunrise, a 700-foot tanker, is reported to have a deep cut in his forearm and requires immediate medical attention to minimize permanent muscle damage. A rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans and a jet crew from Aviation Training Center Mobile, Ala., are responding. The helicopter crew plans to transport the man to West Jefferson Medical Center in Gretna, La.
