Partners to Develop Offshore Wind to Ammonia Project in Greenland

Norway-based H2Carrier announced it has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with Greenland-based Anori to develop the first commercial wind farm in Greenland with subsequent production and export of green ammonia.The wind farm is projected to comprise 1.5 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy which will supply power to H2Carrier’s floating production vessel for hydrogen and green ammonia. Keel Laying Ceremony Held for Two Shanghai Electric SOVs

A keel-laying ceremony was held for two Ulstein-designed offshore wind service operation vessels (SOV) on Wednesday at the ZPMC yard.Shanghai Electric, a Chinese wind turbine manufacturer, ordered the two vessels of the Ulstein SX195 and SX197 designs.The SX195 is scheduled for delivery at the end of 2023, while the SX197 is expected to be delivered in early 2024.The vessels offer accommodation for 60 POB and 100 POB respectively. The design includes Ulstein's X-BOW and the X-STERN design for soft motions and increased comfort.

Cutting Emissions: Vestas Testing Use of Hydrogen-powered Crew Transfer Vessel

Vestas Partners with Maersk on Containerized Transport

Siemens Gamesa to Take Care of Gemini Offshore Wind Farm until 2036

Wind turbine maker Siemens Gamesa has secured an extension of the operations and maintenance services agreement at the 600-MW Gemini offshore wind farm in the Dutch North Sea until 2036.The company said in a social media post that the original 15-year long-term service program has been extended by another five years. The global offshore wind industry has been picking up pace unabated by the global pandemic, with industry investments growing and offshore wind turbine makers competing on who'll build a larger turbine. With offshore wind turbines, bigger is better, Rystad said recently.Wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa in May 2020 announced it was working on developing wind turbines with up to 15MW capacity and a 222-meter rotor - the world's largest in the making. The prototype is expected to be ready in 2021, with turbines commercially available sometime in 2024.

Siemens Gamesa Ups 'Green' Credit to $1.4Bln

Wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has increased the amount of guarantees that qualify as "green" to €1.25 billion ($1.4Bln) as they contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).The deal, arranged with BNP Paribas, adds €350 million to the existing line of €900 million in "green" guarantees arranged with other banks.Siemens Gamesa will use this line to fund its business of manufacturing and selling onshore and offshore wind turbines worldwide, with a positive impact on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) relating to "Affordable and clean energy" and "Climate action"."This deal is a further step in our commitment to being one of the main drivers of sustainable development.

Senvion to Sell Assets to Siemens Gamesa

Insolvent German wind turbine manufacturer Senvion is in exclusive talks with Siemens Gamesa (SGRE) over the sale of a substantial part of its business.The Germany firm said that it has entered into an exclusivity agreement with Siemens Gamesa to pursue negotiations for the sale of selected Services and Onshore assets in Europe. The agreement was approved unanimously by Senvion's creditors' committee. MHI Vestas Bags Taiwan Switchgear Deal

AMSC Bags Wind Turbine ECS Order from AMSC

The US-based energy solutions provider AMSC announced it has received a $9 million order for its 5.5 MW wind turbine electrical control systems from the Korean power company Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction (DHIC)AMSC signed an agreement with the South Korea’s wind turbine manufacturer in calendar year 2017 for the rights to design and exclusively supply ECS units to Doosan’s 5.5-megawatt offshore wind turbine.The initial 5.5 MW systems were ordered in January 2018, and AMSC expects to complete shipments under this follow-on order by no later than fiscal year 2020.“We believe that this order represents the beginning of Doosan’s transition into volume production with one of the world’s largest offshore wind turbines,” said Daniel P.

Siemens Gamesa Firms Belgian Offshore Wind Project

Spanish wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) received the order for the 487 MW SeaMade offshore wind power project in Belgium from customer Seamade NV.The wind turbines and services provider said that it includes supply and commissioning of 58 units of the SG 8.0-167 DD offshore wind turbine and a 17-year Service agreement. The project consists of the two combined sites: Seastar, a 252 MW offshore wind power plant with 30 SG 8.0-167 wind turbines and Mermaid, a 235 MW offshore wind power plant with 28 SG 8.0-167 wind turbines.SeaMade NV is a partnership formed of the Otary RS NV (70%), Engie Electrabel NV (17.5%) and Eneco Wind Belgium SA (12.5%). Offshore construction is to commence in 2019 and be completed in 2020.

China Orders 100 Loader Cranes from Hiab

Hiab, part of Cargotec, has signed a contract to supply a minimum of 100 HIAB light-range loader cranes for a leading wind turbine manufacturer in China. The order with a value of approximately EUR 1.5 million was received at the end of January 2017. The loader cranes for nacelle service are used when lifting service and maintenance parts up to the wind turbines. The agreement also includes training for operators and service personnel. Offshore wind energy is a booming industry where Asia is one of the major growth areas. "We appreciate the good communication with Hiab and the highest quality we get with the product. Vestas Inks Swedish 122 MW Wind Deal

Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems said on Friday it had received a 122 megawatt turbine order for a wind project in Sweden. DNV GL Commissions OVRT Test Unit for Wind Turbines

DNV GL adds to its service offering  offers in the field of electrical measurement for renewable energy producers with a mobile test laboratory for carrying out “Over Voltage Ride Through” (OVRT) tests. The first measurements have now been successfully started for a major German wind turbine manufacturer at the North German wind turbine test facility Janneby. Further projects have already been commissioned by some well-known turbine manufacturers. The test unit is designed for use in the medium voltage grid, implementing the topology suggested in the relevant standards. In Germany the latest regulations specify that all local energy suppliers must comply with the Over Voltage Ride Through requirements.

China's Offshore Wind Farms in the Doldrums

The second round of bidding for offshore concession projects, which had been scheduled to start in the first half of 2012, is likely to be put off due to significant delays in the first concession projects," Shi Pengfei, vice-president of the China Wind Energy Association told 'China Daily'. The second group of concession projects, totaling up to 2 gigawatts, are to be built in Jiangsu, Hebei, Shandong, Zhejiang and Guangdong provinces. Maritime Craft Services (Clyde) Ltd has ordered three more Damen Twin Axe Fast Crew Suppliers just months after taking delivery of its first FCS 2610 catamarans. Based in Largs, Ayrshire (UK), MCS signed for three Twin Axes in November. The vessels will be delivered in the first quarter 2013. With more than 30 years of experience, the Scottish firm operates a 16-strong fleet of tugs and workboats internationally and already has several Damen vessels including Multi Cats, Shoalbusters and Dredge Helpers.
