Chembulk Tankers to Join Womar

Chembulk Tankers signed commercial management agreements for its entire fleet of owned and chartered stainless-steel chemical tankers to enter commercial pools managed by Womar Logistics. “Chembulk’s commercial shift to the Womar chemical pools places our quality vessels in an established and growing revenue sharing platform, providing commercial efficiencies, logistics flexibility and a seamless continuation of the performance our customers expect from Chembulk vessels," said Bart Kelleher, CEO, Chembulk. "All other ownership responsibilities will remain fully within Chembulk.”Together with several current Chembulk chartering and operations professionals, the fleet will transition to commercial management by Womar.

FDX Offshore Acquires Womar Logistics

Connecticut-based maritime finance company FDX Offshore has acquired Singapore’s tanker pool operator Womar Logistics. Watson Farley & Williams (WFW) advised FDX Offshore on its acquisition.The partnership intends to expand its chemical tanker pools as well as initiate and grow independent pools in other classes of ships.FDX is led by Managing Partner Jake Scott and Partner Andy Tuchman who will both become Womar board members. Formed in 2013, FDX has been providing financial advice and capital sourcing to maritime and energy projects.Incorporated in early 2009, Womar began as a 50/50 joint venture between Heidmar and other investors. In April 2014, BW Group acquired Heidmar’s 50% stake in Womar.

BW acquires 10 chemical tankers from Stream Tankers

BW has signed a purchase agreement to acquire ten chemical tankers comprising two ships built in 2008 and 2010 and eight newbuildings to be delivered between 2015 and 2018 from Stream Tankers. The two chemical tankers are from Japanese shipyards Fukuoka Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. and Shitanoe Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. The newbuildings are being built with the same shipyards and when complete, they will be equipped with eco-design hulls and fuel efficient engines. Andreas Sohmen-Pao, CEO BW Group, says:  “Stream Tankers has a fleet of quality vessels and newbuildings and BW is pleased to be acquiring this fleet. BW intends to manage the ships commercially through the WOMAR pool system.

Heidmar Names van der Zijde CEO

The Board of Directors of Heidmar has announced the appointment of Hans van der Zijde as Heidmar's new Chief Executive Officer. Mr. van der Zijde graduated from the Nautical Academy of Rotterdam in 1985 and subsequently studied Maritime and Logistic Management there, graduating in 1992. Mr. van der Zijde has worked for and held management positions in leading shipping companies in Europe, South Africa and Asia. He has overall experience across most of the shipping segments, including tankers, and containers and short-sea. Ardmore Announces H1, Q2 Results

Ardmore Shipping Corporation announced results for the three and six months ended June 30, 2013. The company raised $140 million of gross proceeds in its initial public offering (IPO) of common stock, par value $0.01, which closed on August 6, 2013. In connection with its IPO, the company listed its common stock on the  New York Stock Exchange and trading commenced on August 1, 2013. Signed contracts for the construction of ten newbuildings at yards in South Korea and Japan which are expected to be delivered in 2014 and 2015 for a total of $319.8 million, increasing the Ardmore fleet to 20 ships consisting of eight vessels in operation and 12 vessels on order.

Nordic Tankers: 2Q "Slightly Improved"

The second quarter of 2011 saw slightly improved time charter equivalent (TCE) revenue resulting in improved results compared to the first quarter 2011, and led to an impoved H1 2011 EBITDA compared with H1 2010. EBITDA in Q2 2011 was $4.8 million, up from $1.5 million in Q1 2011, and cash flow was a positive USD 4.3 million compared to a negative cash flow in Q1 2011 of USD 6.1 million, Nordic Tankers reported for the first half of 2011. In H1 2011 Nordic Tankers’ TCE revenue increased by $20.4 million compared to H1 2010 to $51.2 million ($30.8 million). EBITDA was $6.3 million in H1 2011 ($1.9 million) and the result before tax was a loss of $5.9 million ($-12.0 million).

Nordic Tankers, WOMAR establish “Nordic Womar” JV

Nordic Tankers A/S and WOMAR Logistics Pte. Ltd. have reached an agreement to establish a jointly owned independent pool management company with the name of “Nordic Womar”. Nordic Womar will initially manage two pools of coated chemical tankers with a total of approximately 40 vessels in the 10,000 to 25,000 deadweight tonnes (dwt) segment. The agreement is made in continuation of the joint marketing agreement that commenced 1 June 2010, where Nordic Tankers and WOMAR started marketing each others' coated chemical tankers in the range of 10,000 to 17,000 dwt in their individual areas of primary marketing strength. Heidmar, W-O Shipping Joint Tanker Venture

Heidmar Inc. and W-O Shipping Group B.V. have agreed on terms for the formation of a joint venture, WOMAR Holdings LLC, to commercially manage small and intermediate size IMO II/Chemical and other tankers less than 30,000 DWT. Heidmar's Marida Tanker pool and W-O Shipping's Yamuna and Ganges pools will become part of the joint venture and will be managed by WOMAR from offices in Singapore and London.  The intent of the joint venture is to provide tanker owners in this market segment with worldwide market coverage and it will initially have a combined fleet of over thirty tankers ranging in size from 3,750DWT to 16,700DWT.
