Drydocks World – Dubai Wins Award

Drydocks World - Dubai, a ship repair, conversion and new building yard and flagship company of Drydocks World, won the Shipbuilding/Shiprepair Award at the Lloyd’s List Middle East and Indian Subcontinent Awards 2009 for the fifth consecutive year. In addition, Nawal Saigal, Managing Director, Drydocks World - Dubai, was named Personality of the Year for his strategic positioning of the shipyard, advocating investment and seizing opportunity in the downturn. The awards committee, comprising marine industry veterans, highlighted that these factors have helped Drydocks World - Dubai achieve a consistent performance and have boosted the morale of the marine industry in the UAE.

Drydocks World Adjourns Decree 57 Directions Hearing

Following on from Drydocks World Dubai LLC and Drydocks World LLC (together the “Drydocks World - Dubai”) filing for Decree 57 on 1 April 2012, Drydocks World has confirmed that its restructuring remains on track and has the support of its lenders to its restructuring proposals by Q3 2012. Although Drydocks World Dubai today notified its Creditors and members that it has requested an adjournment of the Decree 57 Directions Hearing scheduled to take place in the DIFC on the 7th May 2012 the adjournment will only lead to a short delay in the process.

Drydocks World Dubai Wins SMEISA Award

Drydocks World - Dubai, the flagship ship repair, conversion and new building yard of Drydocks World has won the Ship Repair/Shipyard Award for the third time in a row at the 7th Seatrade Middle East and Indian Subcontinent Awards (SMEISA) 2009. The award was presented to Nawal Saigal, Managing Director, Drydocks World - Dubai, by Christopher Hayman, Chairman, Seatrade, at a gala ceremony in Dubai. Drydocks World – Dubai has been investing in state-of-the-art technology and training with the aim of providing high-quality services to the global shipping industry.

Drydocks World, BP Renew Partnership

Drydocks World – Dubai, the flagship ship repair, conversion and new building yard of Drydocks World, has renewed its long-standing association with BP Shipping with the signing of a new Alliance Agreement. According to the Agreement, signed by Nawal Saigal, Managing Director of Drydocks World – Dubai, and Dave Williamson, VP Fleet Operations of BP Shipping, the two companies will work closely to achieve optimum production levels based on mutually agreed terms, which includes strict implementation of accepted standards in safety, quality and environmental protection.

Drydocks World Confirms Restructuring Remains on Track

Following on from Drydocks World Dubai LLC and Drydocks World LLC (together the “Drydocks World - Dubai”) filing for Decree 57 on 1 April 2012, Drydocks World has confirmed that its restructuring remains on track for completion in Q3 2012. On 7 May, Drydocks World - Dubai adjourned its scheduled Directions Hearing to allow it and its syndicated facility lenders the additional short period of time required to finalise the complex suite of financial documentation necessary to support Company Voluntary Arrangement (“CVAs”) restructuring proposals.

Drydocks World Sets up New Group

Drydocks World, a subsidiary of Dubai World, has announced that it has successfully completed the setting up of a new group under its umbrella. Geoff Taylor, CEO of Drydocks World, said Drydocks World will monitor, control and set procedures in respect of finance, HR and other common functions in group companies. Those in the group at present include Drydocks World Dubai, which is an amalgamation of Dubai Drydocks and Jadaf, Drydocks World Singapore, formerly Pan United Marine, Drydocks World Batam, a green field development in Indonesia, Platinum Yachts FZ and Platinum Yacht management. Drydocks World Dubai is the complete amalgamation of Jadaf Shipyard and Dubai Drydocks.

Drydocks World Dubai Delivers Polarcus Nadia

Drydocks World - Dubai has delivered the Polarcus Nadia, the most advanced seismic vessel built at the yard to date. The vessel, first of a series of four vessels to be built at Drydocks World – Dubai (DDW-D), is to be part of the Polarcus fleet, the Dubai-based marine geophysical company specialising in towed streamer marine data acquisition across the world. The double-hulled, 289.7 ft long Polarcus Nadia is an advanced 3D seismic vessel. The Dubai yard’s all-inclusive expertise was utilized in full force to make the purpose-built vessel meet the stringent demands of offshore seismic operators. The vessel is capable of towing up to 12 steamers. Polarcus Nadia is of Ulstein SX 124 design and incorporates a number of innovative features.

Thordon Bearings and Drydocks World-Dubai (DDW-D) have signed an agreement under which the UAE-based shipyard will work together with Thordon Bearings Inc. to promote the conversion of ships’ oil lubricated propeller shafts to Thordon’s COMPAC open seawater lubricated bearing system. Polarcus Receives 3-D Seismic Vessel

Drydocks World– Dubai delivered a 3D seismic vessel, Polarcus Asima, to Polarcus, a Dubai-based marine geophysical company. Polarcus Asima is the third in a series of six seismic vessels being built at the yard for Polarcus, following the vessels Nadia and Naila. The double-hulled, DP2 class Polarcus Asima incorporates many features to enhance performance with improved safety and comfort elements while ensuring minimum emissions. The 12 streamer vessel has Ulstein SX134 design and is purpose-built for high-end 3D marine seismic operations.

Drydocks World - Dubai, the ship repair, conversion and building subsidiary of Drydocks World, has added two new berths to its facility, significantly increasing its conversion capacity. Completed recently, Berths 9 and 10 are now fully operational and have recently accommodated the 380-metre long TI Asia, Abuzar and Spring Bow for conversion works. The announcement comes ahead of Drydocks World’s participation at Nor-Shipping 09, in Oslo, June 9th–12th, where the company’s yard capabilities in the Middle East and Southeast Asia will be highlighted.

Drydocks World–Dubai Collaborates with Imperial College London

Dubai has joined hands with the Occupational Health and Environmental Respiratory Department of Imperial College London to conduct research which will focus on the respiratory health of Drydocks employees. FORAN Helps Develop New Jack-Up Barge Crane

FORAN in the new jack-up barge crane built in Drydocks World - Dubai. FORAN has been the CAD/CAM used by Drydocks World - Dubai in the development of the engineering of the new jack-up barge crane, called SEP – SAMRAT. Drydocks World - Dubai, the flagship company from the Dubai World Corporation, is about to complete the production documentation and construction of the new vessel for specific offshore building duties. The vessel is a non-propelled self-elevating platform, with a total lifting capacity of almost 2,950 tons, through the help of four legs and the corresponding jacking system.

Drydocks World Sees a ‘Fruitful Year’ Ahead

According to a report from the Khaleej Times, Drydocks World, Dubai World’s shipbuilding unit, sees a ‘fruitful year’ ahead after a tough 2010 and will deliver good results amid signs of positive indicators and stable environment globally, its top official said. Drydocks World, the international service provider to the shipping, maritime, offshore, oil, gas, and energy sectors, has been chosen to carry out the drydocking and repairs of the jack-up “High Island IV” for Shelf Drilling, one of the major players in the shallow water drilling market, and owners of 40 rigs worldwide. Drydocks World-Dubai has a successful past with Shelf Drilling, previously completing a variety of work on six of their rigs, ranging from Saudi Aramco specifications to major upgrades and re-activation.

ABB Turbocharger Service Facility for Dubai

ABB Turbocharging to open a dedicated service point in the Drydocks World facility in Dubai. This new cooperative agreement was marked formally by signing a Memorandum of Understanding at a ceremony in conjunction with the SMM in Hamburg, Germany. The agreement ensure quick turbocharger service to customers in the yard, and offer one-stop ABB turbocharger solutions at Drydocks World. According to the agreement, ABB Turbocharging in Dubai will provide international factory warranties to all service jobs done at Drydocks World, including dedicated machines and engineers at a workstation within the shipyard facility. Over 100 ABB Service Stations worldwide will also provide assistance to Drydocks World if required…

Sixth Sword of Honour for Drydocks World

For the sixth year in a row, Drydocks World – Dubai (DDW-D), a ship repair, conversion and new building yard in the region and the flagship company of the Drydocks World group, has been the recipient of the British Safety Council’s (BSC) globally respected Sword of Honour. The award is in recognition of the consistent success the Dubai yard has achieved in applying internationally accepted safety standards. Goltens Facility Opens at Dubai Maritime City

Dubai Maritime City (DMC), the mixed-use development for maritime business, announced the Grand Opening of the new Goltens facility at the City. The ultra-modern facility seeks to support Goltens’ operations worldwide. Dubai Maritime City project is built over 2.27 million square meters in area and offers a multi-use environment for commercial, industrial, residential and recreational use,. Drydocks World - Dubai, a ship repair, conversion and new building yard and the flagship company of Drydocks World, announced that work is underway on its first ever Floating Storage Re-gasification Unit (FSRU) conversion project, known as the FSRU LIVORNO Project. The conversion of the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carrier, Golar Frost into an FSRU, is being handled by the Main Contractor, Saipem, a leading international turnkey contractor in the oil and gas industry and will be delivered to OLT Offshore LNG Toscana, a company operating in the Italian gas industry.

DP World Inaugurates Jebel Ali Inspection Facility

QE2 Set for Relaunch

Iconic cruise liner to be restored to the former splendor of her glory days after refurbishment into elegant five-star 500-room hotel. QE2 Dubai announced that MS Queen Elizabeth 2 - known popularly as QE2 - will be moved to Drydocks World Dubai for undertaking classification checks prior to her renovation as a luxury floating hotel.
