SENER Lectures on 3D Ship Digital Design

The SENER Group division in Shanghai has presented the FORAN System in the Dalian Ocean University (DOU) in China on October 28. Invited by the DOU, the Technical Consultant Zhi Jiang, from SENER´s office in Shanghai, gave the lecture ‘3D Ship Digital Design with FORAN System’ about the outfitting design with FORAN, one of its main design disciplines. More than 40 students from the School of Navigation and Naval Architecture of DOU have attended the lecture with great interest in FORAN.

China Completes Unmanned Ships R&D Project

A research project examining the potential use of unmanned maritime vessels has received unanimous approval from Acceptance Expert Group on July 31, China’s Maritime Safety Administration (MSA) reported. The project, entitled Unmanned Multifunctional Maritime Ships Research and Development Project, was established in 2012 and implemented by Zhejiang MSA with Wuhan University of Technology. After three years, the project’s development has been has completed, resulting in the award of four national patents. According to MSA, the project realizes all-day networked sea supervision, intelligent cruise and rescue, motorized multipoint coverage by shore-vessel based detection and control platform managing a certain amount of unmanned cruise and rescue vessels on a low-cost basis…

SENER holds a FORAN seminar in Wuhan, China

The ‘FORAN new modules, new functions and FEM-Link (Hypermesh) Seminar’ was held on April 23rd in Wuhan. SENER is playing a big role in China, where it has been promoting the FORAN System for many years.Through the seminar, important new enhancements in its shipbuilding CAD/CAM System FORAN, SENER (Shanghai) hopes to bolster confidence of existing customers and arouse more interest among the potential customers for FORAN system. Xinlin Zhou presented the FORAN FGA/FBASIC modules, functions and hull capabilities of new release V70R3.0. The paper introduced general arrangement drawings using FGA modules and naval architecture calculations using FBASIC module.

New SENER Asia & Pacific Directors Appointed

Alfonso Cebollero has been appointed as SENER's Regional Director for Asia and Pacific, while Guangwu Liu has become SENER's new Country Manager in China. Both will coordinate the Engineering and Technology Group’s projects in the above-mentioned geographical areas where SENER’s CAD/CAM activity is especially remarkable in the shipbuilding sector. Alfonso Cebollero is a Naval Architect graduate from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) and holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) in Marine Business from the ICADE business school, in Spain. He carries out his new responsibilities based in Busan (South Korea). Guangwu Liu Guangwu is a Naval Architect graduate from the Wuhan University of Technology (WHUT)…

FORAN in University WHUT in China

Two years after the co-operation agreement between Wuhan University of Technology (WHUT) and SENER for the use of FORAN, the System is actively and successfully used. Thanks to the agreement, a FORAN Technical Support Center was set up at this university, in October 2010. SENER provided FORAN licenses for educational and research purposes. A complete FORAN package was installed in the School of Transportation, with 40 global licenses for the computer room and 2 global licenses for two laptops, covering all design disciplines (Hull Forms, Naval Architecture, Hull Structure, Machinery & Outfitting, Electrical Design, Build strategy, Virtual Reality and Advanced Design and Drafting).

Wuhan University Students to Train on Transas Simulator

Transas has been awarded a contract to supply and install the Navi-Trainer Professional 4000 at the Wuhan University of Technology, China. The contract was obtained by Transas China, the official Transas representative in the region. The scope of supply will include one main bridge with full ship control and seven channels of visualization, and three secondary bridges with reduced ship control and three visualization channels for each one. All the bridges will be provided with Conning, ECDIS, Radar, GMDSS, and NavAids workstations. Transas will also equip the Briefing/Debriefing room with six desktop Navi-Trainer Expert navigation simulators. The commissioning of the simulation equipment is scheduled for early September 2003.
