Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and Vestas Wind Systems (Vestas) have appointed Philippe Kavafyan to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Lars Bondo Krogsgaard to Co-Chief Executive Officer (Co-CEO) of MHI Vestas Offshore Wind. Keppel Explores Sale of Jack-up Rigs to Borr Drilling

Singapore yard Keppel Corporation is considering a sale of jack-up rigs to Norwegian offshore drilling contractor Borr Drilling, reports The Business Times. The world’s biggest builder of oil rigs is seeking to offload six jack-up rigs for up to US$960 million to the Oslo-listed drilling firm headed by Tor Olav Trøim, said the report. BT also reported that Keppel Capital has already hooked up with structured finance provider Clifford Capital to potentially extend a sale-and-lease-back arrangement for at least one jack-up contracted by Grupo R.

SBM Offshore Hands over FPSO Turritella to Shell

SBM Offshore said it has completed the transaction related to the sale of floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel Turritella to Shell E and P Offshore Services B.V.   Shell exercised an option to purchase the FPSO from SBM Offshore in summer 2017.    The Turritella FPSO is contracted for the Stones deepwater development in the Gulf of Mexico, which began production in 2016.   The vessel has a daily production capacity of approximately 60,000 barrels of oil and 15 million cubic feet of natural gas.

Vroon Offshore Vessel Undergoes Modification Work

Damen Shiprepair Oranjewerf has completed final outfitting and modifications on a second subsea-support walk-to-work (W2W) vessel for Vroon Offshore Services (VOS). VOS Stone was built at Fujian Southeast Shipbuilding in China before coming to the Netherlands for completion. Vroon Offshore Services and Ampelmann have joined forces to deploy a Walk to Work (W2W) solution for the Arkona offshore wind farm, located in the German Baltic Sea. Vroon’s VOS Stone vessel, the newest addition to its offshore-support fleet, will be mobilized with an Ampelmann A400 gangway system. G E Shipping Sells Supramax

India’s largest private sector shipping company  Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited (G E Shipping) has contracted to sell its 2003 built Supramax Dry Bulk Carrier Jag Rahul of about 52,364 dwt. G E Shipping said that the vessel will be delivered to the new buyer in Q4 FY 2017-18. The Company’s current fleet (including Jag Rahul) stands at 48 vessels, comprising 32 tankers (12crude carriers, 17 product tankers, 3 LPG carrier) and 16 dry bulk carriers (1 Capesize, 8 Kamsarmax, 7 Supramax) with an average age of 10.24 years aggregating 3.93 mn dwt.

Bibby Offshore Recapitalization Completed

Subsea services provider Bibby Offshore Holdings Limited said it has completed the recapitalization of its balance sheet announced on December 5, 2017. The agreement to recapitalize the balance sheet was approved January 10 by 98.7 percent of noteholders of the £175 million (approximately $243 million) 7.5 percent senior secured notes, and makes noteholders the new owners of the group. “The completion of the recapitalization will be transformational for Bibby Offshore and is a major milestone for our business,” said Howard Woodcock, chief executive of Bibby Offshore.

Singapore-based Emas Offshore announced that CEO and Executive Director Capt. Adarash Kumar has tendered his resignation and his last day of service will be on April 6, 2018. In a stock exchange filing, the operating brand for Ezra Holdings said that Kumar will continue in his duties and responsibilities pending the appointment of a suitable candidate in due course. He was appointed to the Board as Non-Independent, Non-Executive Director on 26 Aug 2014, and re-designated as an Executive Director on 1 May 2015. He was appointed CEO on 25 Sep 2015. Capt.

Project Seeks to Increase Energy Efficiency in Offshore Shipping

A project has been established to identify energy efficiency and fuel saving initiatives for the offshore shipping industry. The partnership involves a collaboration of seven Norwegian offshore shipping companies. The Joint Industry Project is called Energy Efficient Offshore Partners, and consists of: BOA Offshore, Eidesvik Offshore, Farstad Shipping, Gulf Offshore Norge, Havila Shipping, Siem Offshore and Solstad Offshore, and the classification society Det Norske Veritas (DNV) who is project manager. The project aims to identify and implement best practice solutions with regards to energy efficiency, acknowledging that the synergies between energy efficiency and environmental impact will be a competitive advantage for the partners.

Jumbo Orders LNG-powered Heavy Lift Ship

Dutch transportation and installation contractor Jumbo said it has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with shipbuilder China Merchants Industry Holdings (CMIH) for the construction of a new heavy lift crane vessel (HLCV) scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2020. The DP2 vessel will feature dual fuel engines capable of operating on liquefied natural gas (LNG), and will be built to serve the offshore wind and the offshore oil and gas industries. “Despite the current offshore climate, we are committing to this industry long term,” said Jumbo managing director, Michael Kahn.

DNV GL Launches Class Standard for Offshore Gangways

DNV GL today published the first industry standard providing guidance on offshore personnel transfer by gangway. DNVGL-ST-0358 will contribute in documenting and securing safe operational performance of offshore gangway solutions and contribute to predictability and transparency within the industry. Seacor Announces JV with Cosco Shipping Affiliates

Offshore services vessel operator SEACOR Marine Holdings Inc. said it has formed a jointly owned company with affiliates of the world’s largest ship owner, COSCO Shipping Group. The Marshall Islands company, SEACOSCO Offshore LLC, entered into contracts for the purchase of eight Rolls-Royce designed new construction platform supply vessels (PSV) from COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Guangdong) Co., Ltd. Six of the PSVs are of UT 771WP design (4,400 tons deadweight), and two are of UT 771CD design (3,800 tons deadweight).

Stolt Offshore Announces $110 Million Contract

Stolt Offshore S.A. has secured a contract from Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) in Nigeria for the ForcadosYokri offshore development in the Niger Delta. The $245 million contract has been awarded to a consortium of Stolt Offshore and the Nigerian company Suffolk which is part of the Adamac group. The Stolt Offshore share of the contract is $110 million. The Forcados Yokri project includes the expansion and refurbishment of existing shallow water oil and gas production and process facilities and the fabrication and the installation of a new production platform with a 250 tonne jacket and 1,300 tonne topsides. Offshore Wind Energy Health & Safety Summit Planned

Offshore Wind Health and Safety Summit 2012 to consider how to ensure workers safety in this hazardous industry. The European offshore wind industry is growing exponentially. In the first half of 2012 alone offshore wind power was up 50% on the previous year; 523.2 MW compared to 348.1 MW. EWEA predict that 2012 will be the best ever year for the industry. Along with this installed capacity, 13 offshore wind farms were in construction in the first half of this year. This is great news for everyone in the industry, but the health and safety of those involved must be secured. With an increase in the construction and installation of wind farms, there will be an increase in those working offshore.

Rem Offshore Extends Veripos Positioning Contract

Aberdeen-based Veripos, suppliers of high-precision GNSS positioning services for offshore applications, is to provide dedicated positioning support for a number of Platform Supply vessels (PSVs) operated by Rem Offshore, the specialist Norwegian company which maintains a global fleet of ships. Bourbon, Bureau Veritas Partner on Digitalization

Offshore Rig Counts Unchanged

The number of mobile offshore drilling rigs under contract is unchanged from last week, according to Offshore Data Services' weekly mobile offshore rig count. In the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, 139 of 190 mobile offshore drilling rig are under contract this week. U.S. Gulf drilling fleet utilization is 73.2 percent. Among the working rigs is a new deepwater drillship, which has moved to its first drilling location. In the North Sea, Mediterranean Sea and other European waters, 77 of 107 mobile offshore drilling rigs are under contract. European offshore rig utilization stands at 72.0 percent. Worldwide, 472 of 631 existing mobile offshore drilling rigs are under contract. Worldwide offshore rig utilization is 74.8 percent.

Statoil Green Lights Floating Wind Farm Project

Statoil has made the final investment decision to build the world’s first floating wind farm: The Hywind pilot park offshore Peterhead in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The decision triggers investments of around NOK 2 billion, realizing a 60-70 percent cost reduction per MW from the Hywind demo project in Norway. Statoil will install a 30 MW wind turbine farm on floating structures at Buchan Deep, 25 kilometers offshore Peterhead, harnessing Scottish wind resources to provide renewable energy to the mainland. The wind farm will power around 20,000 households.

Damen Delivers Patrol Vessel to Nigeria

Homeland Integrated Offshore Services Ltd (Homeland) of Lagos, Nigeria, has taken delivery of another Damen 3307 Patrol Vessel for operations in the offshore oil fields in the Gulf of Guinea. This takes the total delivered vessels/Guardians since the first arrived in early 2014 to four. Guardian 4 has joined its three sister ships in providing security services to the oil majors active in Nigeria’s territorial waters, together with additional support services including crew transfers and equipment deliveries.

Norwegian offshore vessel owner Simon Møkster Shipping AS said it has been awarded a contract with Lundin Norway AS for the platform supply vessel (PSV) Stril Mar.   The 2016-built Stril Mar will be under firm contract until the summer of 2018, plus additional options.

BW Offshore has signed an agreement with Petrorio for a one-year extension for the lease and operation of the FPSO Polvo. The firm period has been extended to Q3 2019 (from Q3 2018), with options until Q3 2022. The company has also announced that BW Catcher FPSO received the First Oil Certificate following the successful completion of the 72-hour interim performance test subsequent to the introduction of hydrocarbons on 23rd December 2017.
