Maersk Orders Six Methanol-powered Container Vessels
Shipping group A.P. Moller-Maersk on Monday said it had ordered from China's Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group six mid-size container vessels capable of running on green methanol.The ships, which run on dual-fuel engines that can operate on both fuel oil and methanol, can carry upwards of 9,000 containers. MAN ME-GI Engines Ordered for 10 Seaspan Box Ships
Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group has ordered 10 MAN B&W 7G80ME-C10.5-GI engines in connection with the construction of 10 7,000-teu containerships for Seaspan Corporation, the world's largest, independent container vessel owner.The contract includes an option for five further vessels. Tufton Invests in Wind Power for 82,000 dwt Bulk Carrier
TR Lady Shipping Ltd, a portfolio company of Tufton Investment Management Ltd (“Tufton”), signed a contract Anemoi Marine Technologies to supply and fit the bulk carrier TR Lady with three large Rotor Sails and Anemoi’s patented Rail Deployment System, a system designed to allow the Rotor Sails to be moved across the deck to minimize impact on port operations.TR Lady is a CS Marine design 82,000DWT Kamsarmax bulker, built in 2017 by Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group, and managed by Tufton. TR Lady will be retrofitted with the Rotor Sails during scheduled dry docking of the vessel.
Costamare Orders Five Newbuild Boxships from Jiangsu Yangzijiang Shipbuilding
Costamare announced the conclusion of shipbuilding contracts and long term charter agreements for five newbuild containerships, as well as the acquisition and chartering of two secondhand containerships. The Company has ordered five newbuild containerships from Jiangsu Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group, each of approximately 12,690 TEU capacity. The vessels are expected to be delivered between the second quarter of 2020 and the second quarter of 2021 and upon delivery they will commence a ten-year time charter to Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp. The acquisition is expected to be financed with cash on hand and debt. In June 2018, the Company agreed to purchase two 2013-built, 5,000 TEU wide-beam containerships, the c/v Megalopolis and the c/v Marathopolis.
Yangzijiang Bags Newbuild Orders Worth $133 Mln
China’s Yangzijiang Shipbuilding has won six shipbuilding contracts worth a total of $133m during the second quarter of this year, Business Times reported. Three of these orders for 1,800 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) containerships were exercised from options tied to existing shipbuilding orders. Three others for 82,000-deadweight-tonne bulk carriers were new shipbuilding orders. The new ships are scheduled to be delivered in phases between 2018 to 2020. Historic Containership Contract for China
The new generation of 10,000 TEU container vessels contracted in China by Seaspan represents major improvements in energy efficiency, cargo capacity, operational efficiency and emission reductions. The new features have been developed in a collaboration between Seaspan, the Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group, MARIC and DNV. The order for seven 10,000 TEU container vessels plus 18 options which was signed in Shanghai on June 8, 2011 is the biggest ever container contract entered into in China. The vessels will be built to DNV class. The improvements due to new design features are substantial.
