Saipem's giant Saipem 7000 semi-submersible crane vessel is set to return to operation at the Seagreen wind farm site in the UK a month and a half after it was involved in a tilting incident in Norway.As previously reported, in mid-April, Saipem 7000 tilted in a fjord in Norway with 275 people aboard. The vessel tilted during the planned 5 years main cranes load test, when, as Saipem said, the main block wire broke during the test lifting operation and the testing load (two cargo barges) with the main block was released into the water.Now the vessel appears ready to return to work…

Sustainable Marine said it has successfully harnessed the tidal currents in Canada’s Bay of Fundy, delivering the first floating in-stream tidal power to Nova Scotia’s grid.Nova Scotia has allocated circa 30MW of capacity via demonstration permits and berths at FORCE (Fundy Ocean Research Center for Energy) for developers to demonstrate their energy generation prowess. “Achieving ‘first power’ to the grid from our new platform in Grand Passage signals a real inflection point for our business,” said Jason Hayman, CEO, Sustainable Marine.

Norwegian vessel owner Siem Offshore has agreed to sell two anchor handling tug and supply vessels Siem Garnet and Siem Diamond.Siem Offshore said that the vessels would be sold to an independent third party, for further trading outside the offshore shipping industry. Norwegian offshore vessel operator Siem Offshore has won a three-month charter for the 91-meters long AHTS vessel Siem Pearl in Ireland.The contract is with PSE Kinsale Energy Ltd, the Irish subsidiary of the Malaysian oil giant Petronas, which is currently working to decommission its Kinsale area fields off Ireland.The Kinsale area offshore gas fields in the Celtic Sea in July last year officially ceased production, after more than 40 years online. Ship classification society Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass) has classed India’s first LNG-FSRU.Built at Hyundai Shipyard in Ulsan, South Korea, the 180,000 cu.m, the Indian-flagged, is designed for continuous operations without the need for drydocking over a period of 20 years. Teekay Corporation, a provider of crude oil and gas marine transportation services, has entered into an agreement with the Chestnut Joint Venture to extend the employment of the Hummingbird Spirit FPSO unit (Hummingbird) on the Chestnut field in the North Sea until March 2023.Chestnut is  a joint venture between Spirit Energy Ltd. and Dana Petroleum Ltd.The contract extension was done in conjunction with the Chestnut Joint Venture’s plan to drill a new well at the Chestnut field.The new Hummingbird contract took effect on October 1, 2019 and is based on a fixed charter rate instead of the previous fixed charter rate plus oil production/price…

Dutch dredging company Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. has been awarded the contract for the seabed intervention and shore crossing activities for Woodside’s proposed Scarborough export gas pipeline in northwest Australia.The contract awarded by Woodside Energy Ltd. Norway-based floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) company Höegh LNG announced that its floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) Höegh Esperanza has been selected by AGL Energy Limited for the Crib Point project in Victoria Australia.According to a stock exchange notice from the FSRU provider, who owns and operates a global fleet of 10 floating LNG import terminals, Höegh Esperanza has both a closed loop and an open loop system and is because of this considered by AGL to be a better fit for the operational requirements arising from the Environment Effects Statement (EES) currently been undertaken by the Victorian Government.The EES is expected to be concluded no earlier than late H1 2020.

AGL Energy Ltd, Australia's biggest power producer, expects to make a final investment decision on the country's first liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal in the financial year of 2019, a company official said on Friday.The A$250 million ($189 million) project will consist of a leased floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) and jetty at Crib Point in the southeastern state of Victoria. Amjad, a 300,000 DWT Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) built by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in South Korea, has become the latest addition to Bahri's growing fleet of 84 vessels of various types. Bahri took delivery of the VLCC, its 37th, in a ceremony held at HHI’s Mokpo shipyard in South Jeolla Province, South Korea. Bahri CEO, Ibrahim Al-Omar, Hyundai Heavy Industries’ President and CEO, M. K. Yoon and President and COO, Sam H. Ka, Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to South Korea, H.E. Subsea 7 S.A. said it has been awarded a “sizeable” contract by Cooper Energy Ltd for the Sole Development Project, offshore Australia. Subsea 7 defines a sizeable contract as being between $50 million and $150 million. The Sole gas field is located in the eastern part of the Gippsland Basin, approximately 40km offshore Victoria, Australia. The contract scope consists of the subsea tie-back of the Sole well to the Orbost Gas Plant, including the fabrication and installation of 64km of pipeline, spool and manifold, along with installation of a 64km umbilical and the commissioning of the system. Project management and engineering will commence immediately from Subsea 7’s office in Perth, Australia, with offshore operations scheduled to commence in 2018.

Welsh workboat builders and servicing specialists Mainstay Marine Solutions said it has secured funding to support the purchase of a 150/200 ton boat lift. Mainstay Marine Solutions, marine engineers located in the deep-water port at Pembroke Dock on the Milford Haven Waterway, are set to purchase an amphibian boat hoist with the assistance of Coastal Communities Fund (CFF) funding. The 150/200 ton hoist will be capable of lifting vessels out of the water and moving around their 4.6 hectare site and into the company’s’ 4,000 m2 of covered workshop space.

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. said its wholly-owned subsidiary Dockwise has recently been awarded a number of marine transport contracts with a combined contract value of approximately $50 million. Dockwise was awarded a contract by Husky Oil Operations Ltd. for the transportation of the West White Rose Topside from Texas, U.S. to Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The contract includes the engineering, preparation and execution of the loading, transport and discharge operation of the topside. The topside will be skidded onto a large barge, which in turn will be floated onto the semi-submersible heavy transport vessel Dockwise Vanguard that will transport the cargo to Newfoundland and Labrador. The transport is expected to take place in 2021.
