Two Ulstein-designed Service Operation Vessels (SOV) for Shanghai Electric were launched at the ZPMC construction yard in China on Saturday, September 16.The two vessels are of the ULSTEIN SX195 and SX197 design, carrying 100 POB and 60 POB, respectively. According to Ulstein, these SOVs are the first purpose-made SOVs for China's offshore wind farms and are scheduled to enter service in 2024."The two vessels have Ulstein's iconic design features, the ULSTEIN X-BOW and X-STERN, providing a highly efficient, robust, and state-of-the-art O&M service platform to the end customers.

Over the last few weeks, we have seen three announcements by Chinese OEMs of 18-megawatt (MW) turbines. CSSC Haizhuang announced the H260-18MW turbine with a 260-meter rotor diameter. Mingyang Smart Energy has announced its new MySE 18X-28X turbine, which has a rotor diameter of over 280 meters.Dongfang is developing 16-, 17- and 18-MW turbines featuring rotor diameters of over 160 meters and 128-meter-long blades.We expect these turbines to be aimed at both the Chinese domestic market as well as projects in Europe…

A keel-laying ceremony was held for two Ulstein-designed offshore wind service operation vessels (SOV) on Wednesday at the ZPMC yard.Shanghai Electric, a Chinese wind turbine manufacturer, ordered the two vessels of the Ulstein SX195 and SX197 designs.The SX195 is scheduled for delivery at the end of 2023, while the SX197 is expected to be delivered in early 2024.The vessels offer accommodation for 60 POB and 100 POB respectively. The design includes Ulstein's X-BOW and the X-STERN design for soft motions and increased comfort.

Three ‘megamax’ quayside ship-to-shore (STS) cranes sailed up the River Mersey, destined for the Liverpool2 container terminal, UK, completing the final stage of their voyage from China.The cranes are part of work on the second phase of the Liverpool2 project to provide additional capacity for growing volumes of cargo.Their arrival follows Peel Ports announcing a record-breaking month for its container operations at the Port of Liverpool. German logistics and transportation company Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) has announced that it has taken delivery of three new container gantry cranes for its Container Terminal Burchardkai (CTB) in Hamburg port.According to a press release, this will provide HHLA with additional capacities for handling ultra-large container vessels with a cargo volume of 23,000 standard containers (TEU) and more.The new gantry cranes manufactured by ZPMC will replace three smaller units at CTB, which have already been dismantled.The three container gantry cranes arrived at their temporary berth at Athabaskakai on board the special ship “Zhen Hua 27” after a journey of almost eight weeks.

Chinese  heavy-duty equipment manufacturer Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC) has contracted TMC Compressors of the Seas to supply a marine compressed air system for a new pipelay vessel.TMC will supply a major marine compressed air system consisting of 4 x working air compressors, 4 desiccant air dryers, 2 x instrument air compressors and desiccant air dryers, 4 x starting air compressors, 4 x high pressure compressors for the vessel’s tensioning system, plus 4 x high pressure air dryers. Finnish manaufacturer of cargo-handling machinery Cargotec Oyj said that its subsidiary Kalmar has concluded an agreement with long-term customer EUROGATE Tanger in Morocco to upgrade the capabilities of four ZPMC ship-to-shore (STS) cranes.The order was booked in Cargotec's 2019 Q3 order intake, and the project is scheduled to commence in Q1 of 2020 and be completed in Q2 2021.The EUROGATE Tanger (EGT) container terminal is conveniently located on the Strait of Gibraltar in Morocco, making it the ideal transhipment hub for the western Mediterranean, Africa, as well as North and South America.With a quay length of 812 m, a terminal area of 400,000 m² and a water depth of up to 18 m, the facility is well-equipped to handle the new generation of container ships.

The port and terminal operator International Container Terminal Services (ICTSI) said that  its flagship Manila International Container Terminal (MICT)  recently took delivery of another new quay crane (QC) and eight new hybrid rubber tired gantries (RTGs).According to a press release, the terminal has the largest fleet of modern container-handling equipment in the Philippines today with 18 QCs and 58 RTGs.Manufactured by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry Co. Ltd. (ZPMC), the QC is part of the five from ICTSI’s 2018 USD80-million capacity improvement program package. The global ocean transport operator AAL Shipping has successfully delivered a cargo of four rubber-tired gantry cranes (RTGs) to the Port of Felixstowe, as part of a development project that will see the UK’s busiest container port add an additional 18,000 teu of container storage capacity to meet growing demand.The ZPMC Chinese-made RTGs were loaded in Shanghai and shipped to Felixstowe aboard the 31,000 dwt mega-size mpv the A-Class AAL Kobe, for the CPIA forwarding and shipping agency. A cargo of handling equipment for NUTEP terminal in the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk  was successfully delivered on board M/V Zhen Hua 19 to the Port of Novorossiysk.The equipment was supplied by Chinese producer ZPMC. The shipment include 3 STS cranes, 4 RTGs and 2 reachstackers. The terminal operator said the equipment is intended for the new deep-water Berth No. 38 built by NUTEP in 2019.The contracts for the supply of the three STS and four RTG were signed in June 2017; the reach stackers were ordered in January 2019. SSA Terminals, the operator of Oakland International Container Terminal, submitted last week a $30 million order for three 300-foot-tall gantry cranes, which are expected to be delivered in 18 months.The cranes will go to Oakland International Terminal on Oakland Estuary and will become the tallest on the West Coast, port officials said.The project aims to prepare the port to handle the world's largest container ships, which can be up to 1,300 feet long and carry nearly 23,000 cargo containers. Broward County’s Port Everglades reports that it is progressing with manufacturing the first three new Super Post-Panamax container-handling gantry cranes being built by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. Inc. (ZPMC) of China. The design phase is nearing completion, and today Port Everglades Chief Executive Steven Cernak issued a second notice to proceed to begin manufacturing the cranes valued at $13.8 million each.“This is a significant step towards the delivery and installation of the first three Super Post-Panamax cranes later next year,” Cernak said.

The arrival of two new Super Quay Cranes at APM Terminals Maasvlakte II in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, marked the start of a plan to increase capacity by more than 20% by 2019.The new cranes are built by the supplier consortium ZPMC/ABB and offer the same functionality as the terminal's existing eight cranes on the deep-sea quay: high-speed, remote-control, double-trolley SQCs with twin and tandem capabilities.Once the cranes are operational they will contribute to much needed capacity to help meet customers' growing requirements.
