Belco Technologies Corporation (BELCO), a DuPont company, will introduce the DuPont Marine Scrubber (formerly the BELCO Marine Scrubber) at shipping and maritime exhibition Nor-Shipping in Oslo.
James R. Weigand, president, DuPont Sustainable Solutions, said, “Over the last year, the DuPont team transformed our earlier scrubber design to dramatically reduce operating and installed costs, while retaining the design features customers loved. The DuPont Marine Scrubber is now very competitive in the marketplace.”
By studying installed scrubber operating performance at sea, the scrubber experts at BELCO and the DuPont engineering group have optimized the scrubber design. The DuPont Marine Scrubber now performs using less seawater than ever in open loop, allowing vessel owners to reduce space and power consumption onboard. In closed loop, freshwater make-up requirements also have been reduced dramatically. The DuPont Marine Scrubber is available in open-loop, closed-loop and hybrid designs, and now comes in multi-stream and single-stream options to best accommodate a ship’s funnel and engine room configuration.
While many improvements have been made, the scrubber still maintains all of its most popular original features. The DuPont Marine Scrubber remains the most reliable scrubber on the market, and retains its slim, low-pressure drop design without the need for fans. Systems are custom-designed to meet the needs of each ship’s operational profile.
Contracts for DuPont Marine Scrubbers have been awarded for use on container ships, ferries and bulk carriers.
BELCO, a wholly-owned subsidiary of DuPont, specializes in reliable air pollution control systems to meet clean air regulations with minimal maintenance and operational requirements. For over 40 years, the engineering and process experts at BELCO have designed, customized, built and delivered reliable and efficient flue gas cleaning systems for SOx and particulate reduction, as well as control of other pollutants and mists, across a wide range of demanding applications.
