Worker at Bath Iron Works Test Positive for COVID-19

A worker at the Bath Iron Works shipyard has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, the comany said.

The individual was last at work on March 13, and other employees who have been in close contact with the worker will self quarintine at home for 14 days.

As a defense shipbuilder, Bath Iron Works has been designated “Critical Infrastructure Industry” and will remain operational by mandate of the President and U.S. Navy.

The Bath, Maine shipyard said it is working directly with the state's Center for Disease Control and Preventon (CDC) to take the necessary cleaning and sanitizing actions to reduce transmission potential.

In a letter to employees, the shipyard's president Dirk Lesko urged those who are sick or may have come in contact with COVID-19 to stay home.
