Brunvoll to Supply Propulsion System for Norled’s Four New Ferries

Brunvoll has been chosen to supply azimuth propulsion thrusters and thruster control systems for Norled’s four next hybrid ferries.The vessels will service the routes between Stokkvågen, Lovund, and Træna in Norway. Volvo Penta Expands IMO III Solutions Across D8 Propulsion Range

Volvo Penta announced it has expanded its range of D8 IMO III solutions aimed at smaller, high-speed commercial vessels.The launch expands marine commercial Volvo Penta D8 IMO III solutions for D8 IPS-600, D8 IPS-650, D8 IPS-700, D8 450 hp, D8 510 hp and D8 550, enabling broader range of D8 propulsion packages to exceed IMO III emissions standards.The new D8 IMO III solutions feature 6-cylinder, 7.7-liter diesel engines that can provide power up to 405 kW and generate up to 550 hp.

Konsberg to Equip Hybrid Chemical Tanker for Danish Operator

Kongsberg Maritime has secured a contract to design and a equip a 10th hybrid chemical tanker for Danish operator Tärntank.The new Tärntank vessels will reduce carbon emissions using a combination of clean technologies.The wind-assist technology will be installed on the latest four vessels ordered, and this feature alone is expected to reduce emissions by up to 19%. Flawed Propeller Blade Caused Containership to Lose of Propulsion -NTSB

A containership transiting the Pacific Ocean lost hydraulic oil and propulsion after its propeller blade cracked, according to a report from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). SCHOTTEL RudderPropellers Selected for Four Damen ASD Tugs

SCHOTTEL said it will equip four new 1810-series ASD stock tugs from the Dutch Damen Group with the SCHOTTEL RudderPropeller type SRP 270. The new multipurpose tugs will have a bollard pull of 30 tonnes each and ensure excellent maneuverability with a compact size of just 18.25 meters in length and a beam of 10.23 meters.The power rating of the SRP 270 amounts to 1,000 kilowatts per unit, with a propeller diameter of 1.9 meters. Each tug will be equipped with two units. SCHOTTEL DuroVario LS slipping clutches will allow for smooth acceleration and improved handling of the thrusters.
