New Containership Enters CMA CGM Fleet

Newbuild containership CMA CGM Volga entered the CMA CGM fleet on March 17, and began her first rotation in Dalian, China, on March 20, the CMA CGM Group announced. The 10,622 TEUs vessel is the eight of a series of 28 ships from 9,400-10,900 TEUs that will be delivered through third quarter of 2016. The CMA CGM Danube, CMA CGM Elbe, CMA CGM Litani, CMA CGM Tigris, CMA CGM Loire, CMA CGM Ural and CMA CGM Rhone are the firsts of this series of 28 vessels named after famous rivers that started being delivered on June 30, 2014.

Two New Ships Enter the CMA CGM Fleet

Containerships CMA CGM Loire and CMA CGM Ural were delivered to the CMA CGM Group on February 5 and entered the fleet on February 13 and 14, respectively, marking the arrival of the fifth and sixth vessels of the 9,400 TEUs to 10,900 TEUs series to be delivered through the third quarter of 2016. Containership CMA CGM Tigris, the fourth vessel of a series of 28 ships from a 9,400-10,900 TEUs class, was delivered to the CMA CGM Group on December 23, 2014 in China. First of 28 New Ships Enters CMA CGM Fleet

CMA CGM Group announced that the maiden voyage of the CMA CGM Danube will begin on June 30 in China. The 9,400 TEU vessel is the first of a series of 28 ships from 9,400-10,900 TEU which will be delivered through the third quarter of 2016. Sailing under the Malta flag and chartered bareboat to CIMC, it is the first ship of this class built at the Chinese construction site DSIC (Dalian PRC) and delivered to the group. The ship, 300m in length and 48m in width, was designed to offer maximal loading capacity while meeting the technical constraints necessitated by the Strait of the Bosphorus.

CMA CGM Group said that the CMA CGM Marco Polo, the world’s largest containership, began its first voyage on Wednesday, November 7, in Ningbo, China. The ship is a 16,000 TEU vessel, owned by CMA CGM, sailing under the UK flag. Built by DSME (Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering) in South Korea, the ship displays exceptional dimensions at 396 x 54m, with a draft of 16m. Bureau Veritas has classed what is currently the largest containership in the world. Built by DSME (Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering) in South Korea for French operator CMA-CGM, CMA CGM Marco Polo is the first in a series of three 16,000 teu vessels which will each be named after great explorers.
