ABS to Class Ultra Deepwater Offloading Unit

The Remora HiLoad DP BR unit design approved by ABS will have advanced capabilities for offloading operations in Brazil's Santos Basin. ABS, a provider of classification services to the global offshore industry, has been selected to class the Remora HiLoad dynamic positioning (DP) BR loading unit, a second generation of the HiLoad DP system that connects to and keeps conventional tankers in position during crude oil offloading from floating production installations. Traditional offloading methods using a mooring buoy solution can be expensive in ultra deepwater fields such as those in Brazil's Santos Basin. TORP Files for Terminal License

TORP (Terminal Offshore Regas Plant) filed its application with the US Coast Guard and the Maritime Administration (MARAD) on January 12, 2006 for a license under the Deep Water Port Act, to build, own and operate an LNG receiving terminal in the Gulf of Mexico. TORP’s BIENVILLE Offshore Energy Terminal will be located approximately 63 miles south of Dauphin Island, Alabama, in 425 ft of water, and will be the first to utilize the HiLoad Technology for cost-effective offloading of LNG carriers offshore. Maximum send-out capacity for the terminal is projected at 1.4 Bcf/day.
