Brom Named CEO at Alphatron Marine

Bart Brom will take over as the next CEO of Alphatron Marine Group in Rotterdam, succeeding the company’s co-founder Luuk Vroombout at the start of 2018. After completing his studies in electrical engineering, Brom served in various management and executive positions at maritime electrical engineering companies such as Alewijnse, Bakker Sliedrecht and most recently Eekels Technology, where he is currently director and business unit manager for marine and offshore in Kolham. Alphatron Marine Opens Office in Belgium

Alphatron Marine said it has acquired a new office and warehouse space in Zwijndrecht, Belgium to serve customers in Belgium and France. The new location – operational since September and officially opened on November 9, 2016 – replaces the company’s existing Meerdonk office. Alphatron Marine Belgium is part of a group of companies governed by Alphatron Marine. Together, they act as importer, producer, developer and service provider of navigation, communication and automation systems. Besides this, the company provides specialized IT solutions.

Alphatron Offers Discount to Green Award Ships

Following a cooperation sealed between Alphatron Marine and Green Award Foundation at Posidonia in Athens, Greece, Alphatron Marine will reward Green Award certified ships with a discount of 10 percent that applies to a range of products and services for both seagoing and inland navigation ships. New Leadership at Alphatron Marine

Alphatron Marine announced that Arno Metzemakers will join the company's management team as General Manager responsible for all operational matters worldwide, effective June 1. Next to Metzemakers, Karin Hoogendam will be appointed as COO. Together with Wil Walhain (CFO), they will be the day-to-day management of the Alphatron Marine Group. Luuk Vroombout will maintain responsibility as President CEO and will remain member of the Executive Board together with Dick Slingerland.

Elcome Enters Sales, Service Deal with JRC

Elcome International has signed a distribution agreement with Japan Radio Company (JRC) and its technology partner Alphatron Marine. Under the agreement, the Dubai-based company will take on responsibility for sales and service of JRC and Alphatron Marine products in the Middle East, India and Sri Lanka. Elcome will also carry out annual performance tests for JRC Voyage Data Recorders and Simplified Voyage Data Recorders. JRC is providing training for Elcome engineers at its Center of Excellence in Rotterdam, as well as at Elcome’s headquarters in Dubai.

Alphatron Marine to Continue Astron Activity

Alphatron Marine Belgium BVBA said it will continue with the responsibilities of Astron NV, stating that Astron NV will cease all sales and service activities of maritime navigation and communication equipment with immediate effect due to the restructuring of its organization. This includes the official Belgium distributorship of Japan Radio Company (JRC) which is being transferred from Astron to Alphatron Marine Belgium from the start of 2015. Antwerp, one of the largest ports on the European continent and also the ports of Ghent, Zeebrugge and Ostend play an important role in the Belgian economy. “In order to safeguard the continuation of the Belgian market, a number of employees of Astron will be employed by Alphatron Marine Belgium,” commented Jan Van Dooren, CEO Astron NV.

Europort 2009 Sold Out

In a time where the maritime market struggles with the effects of the economic recession, the need for a maritime meeting place seems larger than ever. The exhibition Europort, that was held in Rotterdam from 3 until 6 November in Ahoy Rotterdam, saw a record number of 900 exhibitors from 35 countries this year. This was the first time the exhibition was completely sold out. The central exhibition theme this year was Advanced Technology, imagination becoming reality. Over 31.000 maritime professionals visited Europort.
