AMSG Wins Contract to Upgrade Vessel Tracking

A contract to upgrade the ‘nerve center’ for shipping at the Barrow Island port proves the resources sector is continuing to fuel big opportunities for Australian firms. Australian Maritime Systems Group (AMSG) has been awarded a contract by Chevron Australia to design and install a new Vessel Tracking Service (VTS) system to manage shipping to and from the Chevron-operated Gorgon Project on Barrow Island, 60km off the north-west coast of Western Australia. AMSG Managing Director John Sugarman said the new Vessel Tracking System will utilize state-of-the-art radar and software systems.

KEP, Orlaco Ink Distribution Agreement

Kessler-Ellis Products (KEP), the manufacturer of type approved displays and computers, announced today that it has been selected as the Americas distributor of Orlaco’s specialized commercial marine camera solutions. Effective immediately, KEP will sell, support and locally warehouse Orlaco’s full line of marine monitoring systems that include compact, self-cleaning, zoom, PTZ zoom and thermal imaging cameras. According to the manufacturer, the new Orlaco camera series is suited for extreme marine conditions as the series provides a crystal clear view around any vessel in any situation.

BMT Provides EPRMS and IRMS for Anadarko Heidelberg

Anadarko Petroleum Corporation awarded a contract to BMT Scientific Marine Services Inc (BMT) to provide an Environmental and Platform Response Monitoring System (EPRMS) and an Independent Remote Monitoring System (IRMS) for the Heidelberg spar in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. The EPRMS monitors, logs and displays data in real-time to provide operational support functionality and archives data for assessing the facility’s integrity over time. The EPRMS for Heidelberg is comprised of a computer console, remote sensor packages, data acquisition software and custom operator displays.

Advancing Monitoring Requires Advanced Oversight

Recent severe storms in the U.K. North Sea have resulted in a number of floating production, storage and offloading vessels (FPSOs) being shut down in order to assess and repair the damage caused. Notwithstanding the possible safety implications for operations crew, oil and gas majors are facing weeks, if not months without a critical asset which in turn, is having a significant impact on future production. The design and operation of an FPSO in remote locations requires detailed information on the structural response of the vessel within the local environment offshore.

Korean Shipbuilders Order Martek Marine Monitoring Systems

UK's  Martek Marine wins large orders for its MariNOx Evolution™ on-board emissions monitoring and engine efficiency system.
