Kidnappers In Nigeria's Delta Release 3 Dutch Nationals

Kidnappers in Nigeria's Niger Delta region released three Dutch nationals held since May 4, Anka Mustapha, a spokesman for Bayelsa state's Joint Task Force, which includes the military and police, told Reuters on Saturday. The kidnapping of expatriates by armed gangs seeking ransom money has been rife in the oil-producing Delta region, although it has tailed off since a 2009 amnesty was signed with militant groups there. Foreign companies have also improved their security. "Yes they have been rescued (released) and handed over to their country's ambassador," Mustapha said. He declined to give further details. Nigeria has Africa's largest population and it has become the biggest economy on the continent, overtaking South Africa.

Tidewater PSV Named For New Orleans Native Cindy Brown

Platform supply vessel Cindy Brown Tide was delivered to offshore-service giant Tidewater on Oct. 24, and chartered to oil company BP in the Gulf of Mexico. The boat's namesake is someone missed by many. Gardner Named VP at Oceaneering

Oil States Industries To Expand U.S. Operations

Adding to its growing list of subsidiaries, Arlington, Texas-based Oil States Industries, Inc. has decided to further its expansion prospects with the addition of CE Marine, Inc. Operating under the new name Oil States Skagit Smatco, the company, headquartered in Houma, La. will provide mooring systems, winches, pipe handling and other custom fabricated equipment to the Marine Industry. The company was originally formed in 1997 by Continental Ernsco as a result of the merging of SMATCO Industries, Inc. and Skagit Products. With Bobby Thompson continuing as the new company's president, Oil States will operate sales and engineering offices in Houston, Texas and Mount Vernon, Wash.
