Lundin Norway Awards EPCI Contract to WorleyParsons
Rosenberg WorleyParsons has been awarded an engineering, procurement, construction and installation contract (EPCI) by Lundin Norway ASO in the Norwegian Continental Shelf.The services include planning, engineering, prefabrication, offshore installation and commissioning support. The objective of the modification is to prepare Lundin’s Edvard Grieg platform to receive and process oil and gas from nearby offshore fields.The project starts immediately and has a duration of two and a half years. Keppel Offshore & Marine subsidiary Keppel Shipyard Ltd is on track to deliver a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel to Yinson Production (West Africa) Pte Ltd (Yinson), a subsidiary of Yinson Holdings Berhad, marking the first FPSO delivery of 2017. The spread-moored FPSO unit was named John Agyekum Kufuor during a naming ceremony held at Keppel Shipyard this morning. First FPSO Approved for Gulf of Mexico
The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement (BOEMRE) today provided the final approval necessary for Petrobras America, Inc. to begin oil and natural gas production at its Chinook-Cascade project using a Floating Production Storage Offloading (FPSO) facility. This will be the first time this technology is used in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. BOEMRE approved the project’s Production Safety System permit and Supplemental Deepwater Operating Plan (DWOP), to ensure that stringent safety regulations were met.
Aker Solutions Contract for Gudrun Tie-In
Statoil has awarded Aker Solutions the Sleipner Modifications Portfolio Agreement and the first project-specific agreements for engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) for the Gudrun tie-in to Sleipner in the North Sea. The order is worth approximately $148.9m and replaces the letter of intent announced July 14. "We are pleased to win the portfolio agreement for modifications in the Sleipner area and we are looking forward to take on the Gudrun tie-in work for Statoil and its partners. This order confirms Aker Solutions' leading position within advanced and complex modifications in the North Sea," said Stian Vemmestad, president for maintenance, modifications and operations in Aker Solutions.
Eight-Band Rope Mop Skimmer
NRC Guardian demonstrates an Eight-Band Rope Mop Skimmer system. Rope is dragged through the spilled oil. During this process oil adheres to the rope fibers. Just like the old fashioned wringer washer machines, the rope is then run through a series of rollers which squeeze the oil out of the mop into a trough which is pumped into temporary storage containers.
