XLCC to Order New Cable Laying Vessel
XLCC, the new high-voltage direct current (HVDC), renewable energy focused business in the U.K., said it has completed the concept design for a new cable laying vessel for planned delivery in the first half of 2025.The newbuild is slated to support the Morocco – UK Power Project, XLCC's first client project, through the delivery of four 3,800km subsea HVDC cables from a wind and solar generation site in Morocco to the U.K.Alan Mathers, XLCC director, said, “Our vessel will be, on delivery, the most sophisticated, capable and green cable layer in the world.

Allseas Signs Hi-definition Subsea Camera Contract
Bowtech Products and N-Seatec Subsea Systems B.V. This contract with Allseas involves the supply of Surveyor HD (High Definition) cameras, replacing the existing HD cameras on all their Schilling UHD ROVs. Bowtech and N-Seatec secured the contract, despite tough and aggressive competition. They also won the supply of the associated connectors and various interconnection cables. Allseas are planning to upgrade all 30 cameras on their existing ROV fleet and have already ordered the first four cameras after testing them on the Schilling UHD ROV at the beginning of 2012. Tritech Launches Mammal Detection System
Tritech expands its industry-standard sonar range with a key renewables device, launching its Gemini SeaTec Mammal Detection System at the All-Energy show in Aberdeen, UK. Gemini SeaTec is a mammal detection system which provides a valuable tool in the detection of marine life around subsea turbines. Deltamarin, New Ferry Design Contracts
Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd and Société des Traversiers du Québec have both ordered new passenger ferry designs from Deltamarin. Both companies named sustainable design and excellent energy efficiency as important criteria in the designs. The order of the Scottish Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL) comprises the concept design of two small RoPax ferries (311.6 ft & 114.8 ft). The designs will be used as tendering specifications to shipyards. CMAL are intending to commence a fleet replacement program in the near future, and these ferries will be a part of it.
