SSI Adjusts Leadership Structure

Victoria, B.C. based shipbuilding software provider SSI announced on Tuesday that its co-owners and co-CEOs Darren Larkins and Denis Morais have made changes to the company's leadership structure.Morais will continue as CEO while Larkins will become president and CIO, the company said, noting that the title changes have been made "to better align with their roles, responsibilities and passions."Longtime employees Morais and Larkins have owned SSI since acquiring it from founder Rolf Oetter in 2018.

Hornblower Group announced on Wednesday it has acquired two offshore vessels: the Seaward Explorer and Seaward Endeavor, previously the California Responder and Pacific Responder, respectively. Seaward Services, Inc. Industry leaders and non-profit the Sustainable Shipping Initiative announced the launch of the Ship Recycling Transparency Initiative’s (SRTI) online platform - a tool for sharing information on ship recycling to drive responsible practice.According to a press release, the platform comes nine months after a group of shipping companies first announced their collective effort to use the market-drivers that transparency brings to make responsible ship recycling the norm. Dutch fishing company Ekofish Group has contracted Damen Maaskant Shipyards Stellendam to build a new twin-rig fishing trawler, specially designed to support eco-friendly fishing. Vripack will be using SSI’s ShipConstructor software for design and engineering work on the vessel. Vripack has brought the quality of its yacht design experience to the design of its first twin-rigger fishing vessel.
