Telemar Bags Maintenance and Service Deal from MINSHIP

Marlink subsidiary Telemar has signed a maintenance and service agreement for eight bulk carriers operated by MINSHIP Shipmanagement.The contract will see Telemar provide global service coordination for Bavaria-based MINSHIP. It includes the provision of the latest Telemar World Service (TWS), a web-based tool for managing scheduled and predictive service appointments for the entire MINSHIP fleet, increasing visibility on service intervals and optimizing vessel availability.MINSHIP provides long-term management and logistics solutions for both its vessel owners and cargo trading clients.

Telemar Wins 50-vessel Service Deal with Fairplay Towage

Marlink subsidiary Telemar said it signed a five-year service maintenance deal with Fairplay Towage to deliver bridge maintenance services across 50 of the company’s port and ocean tugs in Germany, Holland and Belgium.The contracts will consolidate service of critical bridge navigation equipment to a single provider, and scheduled service will be planned to agreed timeframes.The contract includes managing GMDSS declarations, annual radio survey, annual radar inspection, exchange of reserve-power batteries for GMDSS and SART/EPIRB/GMDSS handheld batteries.

Telemar Launches BridgeLink

Telemar, the Marlink Group company, launched its BridgeLink solution.Telemar engineers will use the BridgeLink Smart Maintenance Application to provide pro-active support to reduce potential down-time and increase efficiency of Bridge Electronics hardware as well as associated software maintenance and repair.“BridgeLink will enhance our efficiency in servicing our customers’ needs in terms of bridge electronics maintenance,” said Giorgio Santantonio, General Manager, Telemar Italy.

Marlink Acquires Radio Holland's Connectivity Business

Marlink and Radio Holland have concluded a partnership agreement whereby Marlink has acquired Radio Holland’s connectivity business. According to the partners, the deal strengthens Marlink’s position in maritime VSAT, while Radio Holland will be the preferred global sales and service partner offering Marlink’s satcom connectivity portfolio in combination with its maritime electronics solutions. d’Amico Chooses Sealink Premium Plus VSAT

Italian ship owner and long-term Telemar customer d’Amico Group has selected Marlink’s Sealink Premium Plus VSAT service to enhance connectivity across its fleet of over 50 product tankers and dry cargo vessels. Sealink Premium Plus provides global connectivity for d’Amico’s business and vessel operations, in addition to supporting crew welfare. With Sealink Premium Plus, the d’Amico fleet will receive a guaranteed Committed Information Rate (CIR) and completely unlimited Ku-band VSAT data in parallel to unlimited L-band back-up, for a single, fixed monthly fee.

Reederei Hamburger Lloyd Chooses Sealink Plus VSAT

Hamburg-based shipping group Reederei Hamburger Lloyd will move its fleet of nine containerships and six bulk carriers to Marlink’s Sealink Plus VSAT package including unlimited L-band backup. Leonhardt & Blumberg Chooses Sealink Business VSAT

Hamburg-based Leonhardt & Blumberg (L&B), one of Germany’s independent charter owner of handysize containerships, has become the first customer for Marlink’s new Sealink Business VSAT service. With Sealink Business on board, L&B’s fleet will operate using guaranteed minimum bandwidth regardless of the amount of data consumed, ensuring availability for business critical applications at all times. L&B will use its new on board communication capabilities to focus on operational improvements, including more electronic document handling and collaboration between vessels and shore-based personnel. While business processes are L&B’s primary driver for using Sealink Business, the company will also be able to improve its crew communication facilities.

Marlink Acquires IT Management Partner Palantir

Marlink has acquired Palantir AS, a Norway-based maritime IT company specializing in remote IT management solutions. The Share Purchase Agreement whereby Marlink acquired 100 percent of Palantir AS shares was completed on March 17, 2017. Palantir provides IT managers on shore with access to individual vessels or entire fleets for remote support and management of on board IT networks. Marlink and Palantir already collaboratep through a strategic partnership agreement started in September 2014, which has enabled Marlink to deliver integrated IT management services to its Sealink multi-band communications service customers, including Stolt Tankers and CMA CGM.

Telemar to Supply Broadband for Herm. Dauelsberg

Telemar GmbH, the German subsidiary of the Telemar Group, closed an agreement with Herm. Dauelsberg for the supply of a complete “turn-key solution” for their fleet of 18 vessels. The shipping company Herm. Dauelsberg is based in Bremen with a longstanding tradition going back more than 150 years, with international activities as shipbrokers, liner agents and shipowners, currently operating a fleet of 14 container vessels and four bulk carriers. Telemar provided an integrated solution including airtime through Fleet Broadband for the whole fleet with future option to upgrade services e.g. Telemar Seamore, turn-key installation and commissioning and a number of value added services, including TOSS (Telemar onboard Security System), Skyfile, eNoad and Antivirus.

Danelec Receives VDR Orders from Italy, the Netherlands

Danelec Marine, a supplier of marine Voyage Data Recorders (VDRs), announced that it has received VDR retrofit orders from its distributors in Italy and the Netherlands. Telemar SpA has taken orders for 11 Danelec DM400 VDRs from Italian shipowner Tirrenia, replacing the existing VDRs on its fleet of passenger and cargo ships’ operating on routes in the Mediterranean. Founded in Naples in 1936, Tirrenia was acquired by Compagnia Italiana di Navigazione on July 19, 2012. Telemar was founded in 1947, and is one of the world’s largest international managed satellite service and navcom maintenance providers with 14 operating companies in 12 countries. Aage Hempel, distributor for Danelec Marine in the Netherlands, is supplying VDRs for eight dry cargo ships operated by Feederlines.

Telemar (U.K.) Ltd. launched a new product at Seawork International, a Blackbox specifically designed and developed in association with AMI Marine for vessels under 3,000grt. Vessels are not required to carry Voyage Data Recorders (VDR), so in the case of an incident the ship without VDR or VHF recording may be missing vital evidence to make a claim or counter any claim against them. Scottish company develops vital new level of accuracy for locating casualties at sea. The new iPIRB, launched by MarineMTS and Telemar UK Limited locates and identifies marine casualties fast so that every effort can be concentrated on rescue and saving life.
