Topaz Multi-Million EPC Contract by FRCL
Fujairah Refinery Company Ltd, jointly owned by Vitol Group and the Government of Fujairah, recently awarded a multi-million dollar EPC contract to the Topaz Energy and Marine subsidiary, Nico International. The contract award relates to the Oil Terminal 2 “Users’ Line” Connection Project in the Port of Fujairah. Part of the Topaz Engineering division, Nico was awarded the contract by FRCL in competition with several regional names.

Six Ship Design Contracts for Ulstein in Brazil
Ulstein Design has signed six ship design contracts with Brazilian shipowners CBO and DSND Consub totalling over $69.2m. STX Europe Contracts with Siem Offshore
STX Europe has been awarded contracts with Siem Offshore for design and building of two Platform Supply Vessels. The vessels are designed by STX Europe in Ålesund and will be built at STX Europe in Brazil. The vessels are scheduled for delivery in Q2 2012 and Q2 2013. The total value of the contracts amounts to approximately $155.7m. The contracts are signed with Siem Consub SA in Brazil, a subsidiary of Siem Offshore.

TKMS Blohm + Voss Nordseewerke Last Newbuild
On December 11, the last newbuilding of a series of 3,400 TEU container ships entered the waters at the Emden-based TKMS Blohm + Voss Nordseewerke – a company of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems. This technical launch took place nine months after the laying down of the first double-bottom section. Once fully afloat, the vessel was immediately hauled over to the outfitting pier, where it will remain moored until its scheduled handover at the end of the first quarter of 2010.
SSP Completes Environmental Tests
SSP Offshore Inc. announced that the SSP team and its proprietary platforms, the SSP320 and SSP Plus, reached a major development milestone, completing a full spectrum of global environment performance tests carried out at the LabOceano/Coppe testing basin in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The MARIN Institute operating in collaboration with Oceanica Offshore supervised these tests. SSP Offshore hosted a Showcase Day on November 19, 2009 for selected participants at the LabOceano facilities.
