GAC Russia Expands Portfolio
GAC has marked ten years in Russia with an announcement of plans to develop enhanced marine services to support offshore energy projects in Russian waters. The company opened its first office in the key Black Sea port of Novorossiysk in 2001 to attend to tankers at the newly opened CPC-R terminal, later extending its ship agency services to Sheskharis oil terminal and the dry cargo port of Novorossiysk. Offices in Moscow, St Petersburg, Murmansk and Taman followed.

30-ft. Oil Skimmer Joins Kvichak Lease Fleet
KMI Leasing Co., LLC recently added a new 30-ft. Rapid Response Skimmer – Wide version outfitted with a Kvichak/Marco Filterbelt oil recovery module to their lease fleet. The Kvichak 30’ rapid-response skimmer is a shallow-water capable, near shore skimming vessel suited for use on oil spills in waterways, bays, and harbors. The all-aluminum skimmer is 31’ – 3” long, with a beam of 9' - 8", and a draft of 2’ - 6" and is easily trailerable.
Lloyd's Register Appoints James Fernie
James D. Fernie has been appointed to the position of Business Development Manager, Gulf Coast Area for Lloyd’s Register North America, Inc., based in Houston. Fernie has held senior positions with ConocoPhillips, BG LNG Services and Marathon Oil, and will be instrumental in developing opportunities in the LNG sector. He has also worked extensively with the US Coast Guard and will bring a wealth of marine experience to his new role.

SCI Expands Fleet
SCI signed contracts for acquisition of two Supramax bulk carriers on resale basis which were originally contracted by M/s Grand Yard Investment Pvt. Ltd., China and were under construction at M/s Guoyu Shipyard, China. SCI had signed contracts for these two resale vessels during April 2011. The second vessel is scheduled to be delivered to SCI by July end. The vessel has a gross tonnage of 33,032 tons and deadweight of 56,638 tons.
